Ari went through the entire school day reeking of garbage. Everytime he walked down the hallway everyone would snicker and laugh. His hair was messed up and he was still finding pieces of garbage. I need a haircut, he thought. Even his friend laughed at him a little bit. She felt bad about it and immediately followed it up with a compliment to make him feel better. It didn't.
At lunch some kids he never met grabbed some crap out of the garbage out of the trash can and dumped it onto his lunch tray, chanting "Enjoy your lunch Bug Boy".
Everyone else was excited for school to end, with hopes of getting into a hero school and furthering their dreams of becoming pro heroes. Ari had given it some thought and decided he would try and get into U.A, a prestigious school for would he heroes.
He only had three days of school left, so he would start his "intense training" next week. At the moment though he was preoccupied with the kids snickering behind his back. That was getting annoying.
At one point during lunch the girls that sit across the table from him were clearly laughing and making fun of him. He pretended not to notice but it was really hard. Eventually one of the more annoying girls, Meiwanu, came over to him and tapped his shoulder.
Ari turned around to face her. "Can I help you?" He asked tiredly. "Yeah. You can move." She said snickering a little. Ari laughed at her. Meiwanu's wicked grin turned into a glare. "No thanks. I just feel too attached to this seat, you know? Yeah you get it." He turned back around and kept eating. Meiwanu didn't give up.
"You smell like shit, and it's making me nauseous." Ari turned slightly. "That's funny, being around you makes me want to throw up too." Meiwanu was quickly becoming angry, her mean snicker disappearing entirely.
" Listen bug boy-" Ari blocked out the next few minutes of mean words and cursing. "You've literally wasted half of the time you could've been eating your food yelling at me." He said finally. He turned fully to face her. "I don't even know how you have friends. You're one of the meanest and most selfish people I know. I wish I didn't know you, and I think most people feel the some way. Why don't you crawl back into whatever hole you crawled out of and stay there until you rot." Meiwanu looked hurt for a second, then turned and went back to her seat. Her group of friends immediately went back to snickering and laughing so it didn't matter.
Ari was seated at his desk not really paying attention to whatever the teacher  was saying when a balled up note hit him on the head. He unfolded it. "You smell like shit" it read. He tossed it across the room as hard as he could, not really caring who or what it hit. He was just about done with his classmates. An "ow" was uttered somewhere across the room, which filled him with satisfaction.
The best part of his day was walking home with Kyomi. "Aren't you exited??" She asked shaking his shoulders. "We're gonna he pro heroes soon enough! And then we can fight bad guys and save lives and..." Ari stopped listening to her rant. She went on for a few more minutes. "It's gonna be so cool." She added.
"I guess so." Ari said with a shrug. "Of course you'd say that downer." Ari glared at her. "I'm not a downer. I'm just not in the mood today." Kyomi frowned at her friend. "Besides the whole pro hero thing is dumb. They arrest people who also save innocent lives and label them vigilantes, but because these guys have licenses they can reck crap and get away with it."
Kyomi thought about Ari's words. "Well of course that's how it is, because vigilantism is illegal." She replied. Ari got frustrated. "But why is it illegal? It doesn't make any sense." Kyomi sighed. "Well that's just how it is. We can't go against it." But I can go against it, Ari thought to himself.
The two parted ways, and after a few hours of playing video games and reading manga Ari sat on his bed and stared at the ceiling. Why should the government tell him what to do with his powers? What right do they have? Ari got up and went to the kitchen to make himself a bowl of ramen to contemplate on this issue, only to find that there was none.
His father was still at work and his mother was taking a nap, so he decided to go out to the nearest store and get some. He walked through his neighborhood, illuminated by moonlight. His red blue hoodie was very noticeable. He heard a scream come from behind a house. Ari ran into the front yard. He didn't see anyone in the window.
There was another scream and he was sure now where it was coming from. He leaped over the white and brown house like a grasshopper and landed right on the roof. Peering over the roof he saw a man with the head of a snake holding a baseball hat, surrounding a crying woman with four other individuals.
One had black hair and the other had sharp eyes and blue hair. The others were plain and had no distinguishing features. They all wore the same black jacket with a lion on the back though.
"Money, now." The snake man said. The woman didn't comply. "Don't make us ask again. If you want to keep that wealthy husband of yours alive you'll listen to us. He's the one who really owes us, so you should be glad that we're not barging in there right now to end him."
The woman cried still. "Please, just leave my family alone! Whatever he did to you in the past...can't you move on?" The snake man sneered. "We don't move on, we get what we're owed." He raised the bat above his head and was about to bring it down upon the woman, but Ari decided intervene. He jumped down, landing clumsily on top of the snake man, sending the baseball bat rolling away.
The snake man quickly pushed Ari off of him before getting up. "What the hell kid? Who are you?!" Ari didn't know what to do. These guys would kill him. Why did he think this was a good idea? He can't even fight.
A couple years ago he was on the playground near his house, reading a book by himself. He hadn't met Kyomi and didn't have any other friends. He wasn't shy, he just didn't really like talking to people, so he mostly kept to himself.
He overheard some kids bullying one of his classmates so he watched carefully. Their words were petty hurtful but what was more concerning was that they were going to hurt the kid. Ari put his book down and slowly walked over to them. There were two of them, a blond haired boy with sharp teeth and some  kid he had never seen before. The blonde kid went to his school but he just called him blonde kid since saying his real name made him laugh for some reason, and blonde kid hated that.
"Hey, what are you guys doing to him?" Ari asked, trying to sound intimidating but failing. "None of your business Red Hoodie." The blonde boy said. "Come on I go to your school. You know that's not my name." The blonde boy pushed past the kid he was bullying and got very close to Ari. "You're totally beating up that kid over there. Can we not do that? Like maybe we can do anything other than that?"
"Go home Red hoodie." Blonde kid said. "Again, thats not my name. Also, leave him alone." Blonde kid scoffed. Fine. "How about bug boy then?" He asked mockingly. "You guys should just leave that kid alone." Ari said. "Or we could beat you up too, choice is yours." Ari started to get a little scared. "Woah that escalated." He muttered. The blonde kid's hands caught on fire. "Can't we just talk about this? Maybe have a soda or something?" Ari didn't stand a chance. The boys beat the shit out of him and he went home crying.
Even with his powers he couldn't beat them. To be fair though his abilities had evolved since then. He could chew through anything like a cockroach, jump really high like a grasshopper, produce acid from his body, and he had super strength.
The four men cracked their knuckles, preparing to attack. "Beat it kid, or you'll end up like her." Ari stood there, frozen. He balled his hands into fists, filling his hands with low grade acid. He had learned to control the acidity, so he made essentially made it glue.
Quickly he threw a glob of glue acid at the snake head, hitting him in he face and momentarily blinding him. "Ah what the shit?!" The black and blue haired men both ran at Ari, who jumped up in the air and kicked the blue haired man in he head, then landed in front of him. Black haired guy's hand started to glow and suddenly it was covered with rocks.
He threw a heavy punch at Ari, hitting him in he chest and sending him flying face first into the grass.
Ari got up quickly, and took off running with the criminals chasing after him. He jumped over fences and ran through people's back yards. At one point he climbed up a fence and then jumped onto the roof. The people chasing him tried to up there but couldn't. Ari got an idea. He was going to try the jumping thing from earlier, but it was going to work this time. It had too, his life depended on it.
Bracing his legs, he leaped into the air, flying high above the houses and into the night sky illuminated by the full moon. It was a majestic moment. Until a bird flew into his face. He started to fall back down, and this was when he realized he jumped way to high. He was about to fall through the roof of a conscience store it looked like. Had he jumped out of his neighborhood?
It was fine though. His legs were inhumanly strong due to his quirk, so he crashed through the roof and landed on his feet in the store. Ari heard startled gasps and screams as he ran out of there.
When he went back the house the gangsters were gone and the family who lived in that house were packed in a car and driving off. He saw the woman mouth "thank you" from the car window as they past.
He felt proud of himself even though he technically didn't do anything. It still felt good though. Exhilarating, even. Maybe he could do this every night. That area had some trouble with gangs and such. He could go out every night and stop them, eventually finding the big boss and take him or her out.
But of course that was stupid and illegal and he could die. He thought this over as he slept that night.
    Could he be a hero?

.Probably not to be fully honest.
