As Ari clung onto the side of the car for dear life, he suddenly realized that this was the second time this had happened to him recently. And hopefully the last.
His attempts at hacking the vehicle had proven unsuccessful , and after the fourth attempt it started driving on its own. And he was unfortunately along for the ride. He was slowly starting to hate the fact that he could stick to things.
Lucky for him, his speedy friend Shiro was walking home from a coffee shop and happened to spot him from the sidewalk.
Now, Shiro wasn't exactly the "hero type". In fact, he's never even helped someone with something as simple as picking up a dropped pencil. But this looked pretty bad. Especially to him.
A huge aspect of his acceleration quirk was that he perceived things differently to most people. A lot slower. So he could see that the armored vehicle barreling down the street had no driver. And he could just tell the dude in the ski mask screaming at the top of his lungs was the amateur vigilante he met previously.
He looked around. No pros, no cops. Go time. Shiro assumed a sprinter's position and prepared to take off. But just then, a large truck came around the corner and smashed into the left side of the armored vehicle. Now, this was a rescue mission.
Everything slowed down for Shiro as he entered his "Speed Zone". He ran into the street, passing cars that seemed liked they weren't even moving. His shoes exploded as his feet crackled with yellow energy.
Shiro ran to the right side of the armored car, grabbed The Amatuer vigilante, threw him over his shoulder, and now then raced to the side walk on the other side of the street. He lost his balance towards the end and fell, dropping the amateur vigilante.
Everything sped back up. Ari continued to scream until he realized he was safe on the ground and not in imminent mortal danger.
He looked over to see that speedy kid he met a while ago laying next to him. Ari quickly got up, looking from Shiro to the street.
The armored car hadn't stopped, and was still barreling down the street. Ari was about to run after it but Shiro put his hand on his shoulder to stop him.
"Hey hey take it easy man, I just saved you with my quirk, take a breath dude."
Ari thought about that, and suddenly his apparent teleportation made sense. Then he got an idea.
"Great! You can help me stop that self driving car or whatever it is!"
Shiro hesitated.
"I dunno man, I don't really do car chases."
Ari just stared with a black expression.
"Dude people are literally gonna die and you just "aren't feeling it?". What, too busy stealing support items from gangs?"
Shiro raised an eye brow. Way to reveal your identity, man.
"Whatever we're wasting time, I'm out."
Ari super jumped onto a near by building and bounded after the runaway self driving car.
Shiro just stood there with his hands in his red leather jacket's pockets, contemplating.

Ari jumped across rooftops, following the car. Eventually it just stopped in the middle of the road. People honked at it and yelled but they didn't realize it had no driver.
Ari was relieved. Now he could just run into the street, finish hacking it, and drive it somewhere. But his thoughts were quickly derailed when something hit him in the back.
He fell over, completely caught of guard.
"Long time no see, kid."
Ari tolled over and looked up at his attacker. It was the man in white. He was wearing a white fur coat this time.
"What's the matter? Look like you've seen a ghost."
    Ari slowly got up.
"I'm wearing a ski mask, you can't see my facial expression."
"Still a smart ass I see. Well, it's been fun catching up, but I'm gonna have to kill ya now."
Ari didn't say anything. He did glance at the parked self driving car to see three black cars surrounding it and a couple shady looking guys getting into it. Clearly The Man In White's lackeys.
"It's morning personal kid, you've just been getting in the way of my operations lately and I'd rather not have another confrontation like this."
His hands shifted into sharp diamond swords, which he then proceeded to swing at Ari with extreme speed and accuracy.
Ari managed to dodge a few attacks but got grazed on his arm and leg. He tried to ignore the searing pain as he came up with an attack plan.
He took off his gloves and shot a stream of acid at his attacker. He blocked it with his diamond hands. Ari used his as a diversion to land a super kick to his chest.
Then he jumped into the air just above him. "Ultimate Bug Crush!" he shouted as he landed with his feet in the man's face. He kicked his head straight into the roof they were standing on, breaking it and causing him to fall into the building. Ari landed safely on the roof.
"Nice." he said to himself. His victory was short lived when three men in white uniforms and masks hopped onto the roof too.
"He beat the boss man!" One of them said.
    "Get him, quick!" Another shouted.
    "Uh oh." Ari muttered.
The next fifteen minutes consisted of four men shooting fire, icicles, and maybe a little electricity at Ari as he leaped through the air dodging attacks. Whoever these guys were, they were airborne.
He couldn't lose them just by jumping across buildings. While Ari was distracted thinking of an escape plan, a bolt of electricity zapped him and he fell through the air, landing in the park.
Ari smashed into a bench, breaking it and startling a young couple who hadn't noticed him flailing through the air. The four men in white all crowded around him, preparing to strike the final blows.
But before they could do anything, the sound of clapping made them all turn their heads.
Shiro was standing there, slow clapping.
"Great job guys. It took four of you to take out one dude. Bet your boss would be super proud. You're all getting raises for sure."
The men in white looked at eachother.
"Who the hell is this guy?"
Shiro didn't answer. Instead, he used his powers to hit them all at superspeed, moving so fast nobody could see him.
Now they were pissed. They charged at him one by one. Shiro dodged a fireball attack and supper speed punched him in the chest four times, then pushed him into the electric guy knowing them both out. He tripped the third guy who fell flat on his face, and before he could do anything to the third guy Ari super kicked him so hard he went flying into a tree.
"Took you long enough." Ari said, coughing a little. It hurt to move.
"You're lucky I came at all, I'm a busy guy."
Ari debated punching him in the face, but realized his arm hurt too much for that.
The boys heard sirens and quickly realized that police cars were approaching.
Luckily for them, Ari's new mentor pulled up in his armored vehicle just in time.
"Quick, this way!" Ari told Shiro.
"Do you always just get in stranger's cars?"
He got in the backseat with Ari anyway, because there was no way in hell he was going back to jail.

Eventually they arrived at Red Death's "secret hideout". It was a large warehouse that looked abandoned from the outside. But definitely not on the inside.
When they stepped into the warehouse, Ari immediately noticed the computer screens on the walls and display cases holding past incarnations of Red Death's suit. One of them had an interest looking cowl and wings. He had to ask him about that one later.
Shiro still had no idea what the hell was going on. He followed Ari over to the display cases. Ari took off his mask and stared at them admiringly.
Red Death sat down in an office chair in front of one of the computers.
"So...what happened after the self driving car kidnapped you?"
Ari snapped out of his fanboy daze.
"Uh this guy saved me," he pointed to Shiro, "and then this guy I fought before fought me again but I kicked his ass and then his friends came. His hands were diamonds."
Red Death recognized him instantly based on the description.
He typed some things into his computer and the screen showed four mug shots.
"That guy's name is Yamando Kessho, also known as Diamond Back. I fought him a few times back in the day. His buddies are the Diamond Crew, I know, dumb name."
Shiro and Ari looked at the mug shots. Those guys needed haircuts.
       "So what's their deal?"
        Red Death shrugged.
"They haven't been active for like ten years. But they've suddenly resurfaced for some reason. This requires investigation."
Red Death stood up from the chair and headed to the car.
"Wait where are you going? And what's going on?" Shiro asked suddenly.
"Oh uh, me and the kid are teaming up. We're gonna get to the bottom of the recent gang activity. But right now I've got business to attend to. Ari, I'll be in touch. New kid, you're welcome to join in. I could use someone as fast as you on the alliance."
Shiro didn't realize this guy saw him in action. The older vigilante got in his car and left, leaving him and Ari in his lair.
"So uh...you joining the team?" Ari asked.
Shiro shrugged. "Why not? Mom's been telling me to join a book club or something, this is like the next best thing."
Ari patted him on the back.
This was curtainly going to be an adventure.
