Chapter 5
Weeks have passed unnoticed Johanna and her friends had not gone out to hang out because of all the activities their professors’ had made them do. It also made their weekends busy that they just chat online or leave text of greetings, sometimes sending funny videos. Johanna though busy had Paul in mind sometimes she keeps remembering that day at the mall. Are they now dating? How long have they been going-out? Are they now an item? Those questions keep popping in her mind.
Feeling exhausted just by thinking about Paul and Misty she decided to go for a walk outside to get fresh air. Wearing a pink jacket and black jogging pants she looked for her mom.
“Ma, I’ll just stroll around the area for a bit, bye”
Not waiting for her mom’s answer she walked out from the house. Although when she had taken a few steps she saw Greg walking. His back was to her so he didn’t notice her. She walked fast to get near him. When she was behind him she jumped in front of his view to startle him. She did succeed with her plan.
“Damn, are you trying to give me a heart attack!” Greg said laughing
“No, I just want to see you startled” she said laughing as well.
They walked together, they went to the park.
Finding a vacant bench Johanna sat in it too tired. Having walked a few miles and getting tired these much after made her think to do it a lot to lengthen her endurance, and also to lose weight. Greg sat next to her.
“How are you feeling now? I saw you looking at Paul that day and also saw that he was with a girl?” Greg asked concerned.
Feeling sad she just said “I’m fine I’m trying to forget it and also him it’s long overdue anyway” she tried to hide her sadness by laughing but ended sobbing.
Greg embraced her to comfort her. They just sat there for a while.
Seeing the sun setting though he let her go and asked, if she wants to go home?
Now feeling a little better at heart she cheerfully smiled at him and stands up so they could go back home.
“Thanks for always being there for me” she said
“No problem little girl” he replied smiling
“I’m not a little girl anymore, I’m seventeen” she said pouting at him. Not liking the idea that he thinks she’s too young.
“Yeah you’re right, old enough to fall in- love right?” Greg said sadly
She stared at him after hearing those from him. She sensed sadness in his voice, but why?
They arrived first at her house. He said his goodbye then walked fast away from her. She didn’t have time to ask him why he seemed sad at something. Then she remembered about Melody maybe they were having a problem. Maybe that’s why he was sad talking about love. Thinking that’s the thing bothering him, she was sad for Greg but hopes he solves his problem. He is too kind and sweet to worry about love.
At school, she noticed Paul wasn’t doing well in school. He had kept cutting classes a few days now and does not do well in math class which is unusual because he is great in math. She on the other hand was doing great in that subject. Him being her classmate made her want to do better in school not to get him to notice her but to not embarrass herself in front of him. She wants to show him that she is doing well not like the girl she used to be when they were younger.
During English class while the professor went out for a little while the class went a little noisy. In groups they start chatting, making fun of each other. The IN GIRLS and their male suitors made a noise. All of them looked at the IN GIRLS group then some of her classmates tease Paul and Sonny, Paul’s friend but also have a thing for Misty. They made a noise saying, who would win the latters’ heart.
Johanna just ignored them and went back to reading a romance novel until their Professor returned. The class resumed. Johanna also loves English she likes to write essays and really likes English novels.
