TRIS POV

I can't believe he just slapped me.

The left side of my face hurts like Satan just took a shit on it.

It probably looks like Satan's ass, too.

As soon as he did it, he looked regretful and tried to apologize.

But it was too late.

"I'm sorry, I don't know wha-"

"Save it. Good luck getting those custody rights."

I run into the bedroom and lock the door.

I lean against the wall and sink down.

I sit there and cry for a good half an hour.

I grab bags from the closet and start packing my clothes and makeup up.

When that's finished, I bolt into the girls' room and grab all of their stuff, too.

I open the door to the hallway.

I start grabbing my bags and putting them outside.

Four tries to get me to stay, saying that he loves me and he didn't know what he was doing and he's sorry and all that bullshit.

I just ignore him and keep packing.

I finish packing and leave my keys on a post-it note.

On the post-it note, I wrote 'goodbye asshole' in bold, capital letters.

I might have gone a bit over the top, but hey what can I say?

I am on my period.

I walk into Christina's room, feeling worse than before.

There's a helluva number of gasps.

"Why do you have bags?"

"What did he do to you?"

"Are you okay?"

"What happened?"

I decide to answer all of the questions, while sobbing.

"Okay. I have bags because I left him, he hit me, I'm not okay, and I just explained what happened."

"He hit you?!?" Zeke screams from around the corner.

He runs in to see how bad it is.

"Holy shit. URIAH! WILL! GET IN HERE" He screams.

The boys come in and see my face.

"Woah." Uriah and Will say at the same time.

"How bad is it? I haven't seen it yet."

Marlene points to a mirror.

I look into it.

The area around my eye is already black.

There's a red hand print from his hand.

And my cheek is purple.

"Oh no."

"Oh no is right, sweetie." Marlene says.

I can't hold any of it in anymore.

I collapse on the ground and cry.

I hear the door shut.

I look up to see that the boys left.

"Get it all out, Tris." Lynn says.

"It's gonna be alright in the end." Shauna says.

"I hope so. My life is a fucking mess."

"There are children in this room."

"Children that aren't able to talk."

"Good point."

The boys walk into the room.

"What'd he say?" Chris asks.

"You talked to him?!?!!" I ask

"More like kicked his ass..." Will laughs.

"What. Did. He. Say." Christina asks again.

"He said that he kept saying he was sorry and that you ignored him and that he didn't know what he was doing and blah blah blah."

"What did you say back?" Marlene asks.

"We told him 'well yeah because you slapped her hard!' and then we showed him a picture we took of your face." Uriah says.

"And then we said kind of mean things to him and then we left." Zeke said.

Nobody pushes on the 'mean things' phrase, and I'm glad.

I don't really want to be reminded of all the shit that's happened.
