JaeSung looked up slightly, spotting a figure moving around on the roof. She tilted her head slightly as she slid off her sunglasses and nudged Ren who was talking to one of the directors of the orphanage they were currently visiting.
"I'm gonna go inside."She said before quickly leaving Ren's side, briefly hearing the male curse her in chinese. She was tempted to flip him off but remembered she had an image to protect.
Having climbed up to roofs countless times, she quickly found the staircase that leads to the top.
With a satisfied grin,she opened the door.The
door popped open with a quiet click and JaeSung stepped through, quietly closing the door behind her.
She had to say that the view from the rooftop of It's Okay To Hope Orphanage was amazingly breathtaking.
JaeSung stood frozen as she watched a boy,no older than 15,dance.There was just something about him and the way he moved that entranced her the moment she laid her eyes on him.
She watched as he danced around, the music carrying him along. He was like a fish in water or a bird in the sky, completely in his element.
She found herself clapping when the song came to an end, effectively scaring the boy as he jumped in place, whirling around wide eyed.
"That was fucking impressive!"JaeSung cheered, folding her arms under her chest.
"The way you moved and your song choice and just, wow!"The boy flushed red, bringing a hand up to hide his face as his other hand fiddled with the hair.
"You're Min JaeSung."Was all the boy managed to say and JaeSung only grinned as she nodded.
She stepped closer to the boy,her infectious smile causing him to smile back at him albeit nervous.
"How long have you been dancing for?"She asked and the boy shrugged.
"I've been doing it off and on for the past ten years."He said, fiddling with the edge of his shirt."It's been more constant since I got here."
"How long have you been here?"JaeSung asked before retracting quickly,"I m-mean,you don't have to answer that if you don't want to."
The boy only shook his head,"Just around five years, almost six."
JaeSung smiled, already feeling fond of the younger boy.
"May I ask a question?"JaeSung nodded and the boy looked down before looking at JaeSung and she was able to see his nervousness.
"Was it worth the pain?"He asked and JaeSung tilted her head in slight confusion."The training, was it all worth it in the end?"He elaborated and JaeSung let out a sigh as she walked over to the edge. She swung a leg over before doing the same with the other, letting her legs dangle over the edge.
Down below she could see Ren point two fingers at her before pointing one down. She rolled her eyes as she turned her neck and patted the spot next to her, ignoring Ren's warning to get down.
"It depends on the person."She started,"If the person can handle the pain, the stress, the fear, the negativity,if they could handle all that than it would be worth it it.Then there are the ones who couldn't take it,they drop out of the race, watching from afar."
"It's a gamble really."A nostalgic look washed over her face."You have to find a company that's willing to support your dreams and respect your choices. You have to read the fine print, read in between the lines."
"But since you asked me personally let me tell you that nothing beats the rush of euphoria you get when you stand on that stage."A dazed look crossed her face.
"In the end,all the dangers and betrayals amounted to nothing when I was on that stage with my brothers because I fought for that place in between them."She turned to him and smiled.
"There are other ways to reach the top though."She said, looking across to the setting sun.
"You can post your videos on social platforms,go and do busking."She grinned widely and know he knew why they say that they see an angel everytime JaeSung smiles.
"Talent like yours will get noticed one way or another,it might take time, but you'll get discovered."
The boy nodded, scooting closer to her.
There was something comforting about her and he soon found himself talking to her about his life.
He told her about his parents and their passing away, how he hopped from relatives house to relatives house before he was put in the orphanage at age ten.
He told her about his mistakes and worries, his regrets and goals. He spilled his life and the weight came off his chest.
And JaeSung nodded, listening to him.She stayed by his side, listening to his life story.
She ended up telling Ren to leave, she came in her own car anyway.
When everything was said and done, and the boy,Ahn Soo,went back inside,JaeSung stayed out on the roof, her mind elsewhere as she looked up at the sky,the stars blinking down at her.
With a sigh, she got down from the roof, making her way to the office where she left a heafty donation and left with a sponsorship held tightly in her hands.
