A/N: For this chapter, I'm using first person because it brings out Sky's character better. Also, I'm using present tense (only for this chapter) because it makes things more fun! I hope you don't mind!  :)

~Sky, (Ignore the fact that he's in water. I couldn't find a better picture)~

The Peaceful Prairies. I don't think any other name could be more wrong. 1) It is not peaceful here--not anymore. 2) It's not even really a prairie. Let me get this straight. It was. Until some guy dumped some seed here and magical plants grew of them, so now it's a huge forest with one sliver of the whole place that's a prairie. That's where we live. The unicorns. I'm Sky, the son of Lord Neptune--the king. I know my name isn't as fancy as the other unicorns here. That's because I am plain and simple, so my parents picked a plain and simple name. But that's okay. I like it.

Now, there aren't really many rules creatures need to follow here, just one actually. Don't go into the forest. Like I said before, they are magical plants. And you should intertwine magic with magic if you don't want to end up in a BAD situation. At least that's what the king says. Me? I'm not sure, but I don't want to try. No one's ever been in the forest, and no one probably ever will. Speaking of magic, I am a pretty powerful unicorn, so here's another rule. Don't mess with me. I basically have every power you can think of, so don't even try. Got it? Good.

If you can follow that rule, I'm probably the nicest unicorn here. I'm fun and will stick up for anyone--provided they're not the mean unicorns that get on my nerves. Take Lightningstar for example, he used to be bullied all the time for his yellow fur coat. But personally I like it--it's unique. Since he's like my best friend, of course I have to stick up for him. And it works like a charm! Since I'm technically a prince, I can usually get people to stop by just glaring at them. They know not to mess with me!

I'm walking the "streets" when I see this weird guy... 1) He was human. 2) I think #1 was enough of a reason to be suspicious.

We don't ever get humans here unless there's something wrong. So, obviously something was very wrong. I don't like it when something's wrong. Last time it happened, my mom died. That was not fun. I am not looking forward to experiencing that again...The last thing I wanted was to get involved with this whatever it was...

But, the human must have had other plans.

Cause then, he looked over at me and was like, "Oh and you there--Sky I think--I need you, too."

I don't even know this guy! Seriously! At least he got my name right.

With no choice I followed him to the coffee shop. (cause that's where everyone goes when they need to talk)

"Sky--I need you because only a royal unicorn can do this task. I need you to go get the Rainbow Sword. Please. We can't do this without you and we need the sword. I spoke with your father. He says it's okay as long as no one dies. I'm pretty sure it's safe..." the man explained

He didn't sound very reassuring considering he did trail off at the end. But if my father could believe him, so could I! Besides they needed me. Nobody's really ever said that to me. I couldn't just let them down no matter how dangerous. I really didn't want to be involved, but there wasn't really any choice. I could also tell that he wasn't going to take no for an answer.

So I agreed.

Then he took out a stick. Not just any stick--a wand.

A/N: How's that for a cliffhanger? I know it's really, really short. This chapter's purpose was mainly to set the scene for a different plot line/subplot, so hope you enjoyed this mini chapter!
