Hours later, the Kamini brothers were in their rooms. Kagetsu sketched the pictures based on Freya's request, making a few variants but never fully satisfied.

Rigaku powered up his laptop, typing. His fingers moved across the keyboard as if they were dancing to hexadecimal tunes. The energy that had filled him at the time of starting the novel returned tenfold.

'I can't stop.' The screen reflected in his glasses, rows of text filling it. 'Why did I abandon this story?'

Regret occupied his heart, but the next beat pushed it away as images floated in his head. The real world ceased to exist around him, and he was standing in a field where gigantic blades of grass grew and tiny people rode bugs like horses.

And if both brothers bubbled with excitement, their middle sibling swam in sadness. He sat on the bed, trying to untangle his hair after showering.

"Come on!" he muttered through his clenched teeth, as the hairbrush stuck inside. As the hair ripped, he repeated his strokes until his hair turned smooth again.

What remained in his brush would be enough for dolls to wear with plenty to spare.

"I hate this!" He cleared the brush and flung the strands into a bin. "Maybe I can ask Freya-chan if she knows any tips to take care of my hair, or I'll go insane." He plopped himself on the bed, spreading his limbs.

"Do I need them?" His fingers combed through his hair, getting stopped in the midway. "Why you?" he roared, yanking his hand free. The momentary pain brought him back to his sense.

"Enough!" He leaped on his feet, grabbing scissors. Its opened blades hovered a few inches from a lock he grasped. His heart abused his rib cage from inside as his arms trembled.

He bit his lip in frustration. Even with the boiling anger, he didn't have the courage to snip his hair. He let his arms limp, putting the scissors back.

"I'm pathetic."

In the middle of sighing, his mobile rang, giving him almost a heart attack. Before calming down, he grabbed it from his nightstand, picking the call.

"Yes, Kamini speaking!" He half collapsed onto his bed without checking the caller's ID.

"Konnichiwa, A-kun, how are you?"

"Ah, Mrs. Sato-san!" His mood skyrocketed from the slumps. "I'm fine. How about you?"

"Doing great as well. I was only thinking about..."

Aiyoku lost himself in her words, never realizing what path he could take.

"Yes, I'll think about this. Good night."

He ended the call with a strange state of his mind. Nothing bothered him, yet he didn't feel euphoric. It was as if his brain turned on the idle mode, preserving the energy for a burst.
