It only took another week before River could come home. Andy was overjoyed. River still needed a heating pad to sleep on. The first night Andy slept in River's room with River on his chest almost all night long. I only went in there when River had to nurse.

Andy made sure I slept at night. We both got sleep. During the day, I had River with me. As soon as Andy gets home every day, he gets a shower, takes River to change his diaper and holds him. I cook dinner for the two of us then get a shower before feeding River on time burping him and letting him fall asleep.

It's been two months since. Tomorrow is his second check up since leaving the NICU. We are wanting to hear that he can be in his crib without the heating pad. When it was bedtime, Andy was already snuggling up with River asleep on the couch. I slipped River from him for a moment to feed him and change his diaper.

I then put him in his crib on his back and turned the pad on. I left him with the monitor on knowing Andy would reach him quicker. I couldn't leave the room though. I curled up in the recliner next to his crib. I fell asleep in the chair. Never once did River wake up and cry. I would get up, feed him, change his diaper and put him back in bed.

When I woke up Andy was changing his diaper. "Morning baby." He said. I stretched my legs out. Then stood up. He let me take River to be fed. "How did he do last night?" Andy asked. "Never cried once." I said. "That's good." He said. "He slept soundly with the heating pad." I said. Andy nodded. Once River was done, I burped him. Right in the middle, there was a knock at the door.

We were planning on going to the clinic so no one could know where the house is. Andy came back quickly. "It's your family." He said. I stood up with River and carried him with me. "We don't have time for them to show up right now." I said. "You tell them that." He said. I handed him River. He took him going to the living room. I opened the door. They didn't have a chance to speak before I was talking.

"I don't have time to visit at the moment. I have a doctors appointment I need to get to. You are welcome to kick back watching tv in the living room." I said. They looked at each other before entering. Andy was sitting in the recliner with River in his arms. They looked stunned. It's been nearly seven months since they last visited.

"Should have informed us that you were pregnant." One of my uncles said. "Grandma knew." I told him. "No wonder she was talking about it last time we were here." The other said. "Now that this has been discussed, I need to get River to his appointment and Andy has to get to the training field." I said as i walked over and scooped River up taking him with me.

I grabbed the diaper bag off the counter that Andy had packed sometime this morning before I had woken up and went out the garage door. I strapped River into his car seat and closed the door. Andy and I kissed before he opened the driver side door for me.

I slipped in and settled into the seat. "Stay safe baby." He said. "I will." I said. "Let me know if you need anything. Especially if one of them give you trouble." He said. I nodded. "I will." We got to the clinic and walked in. River was nearly asleep as I checked him in. I found a seat with him and adjusted him on my lap.

High pitched wailing almost got River crying too. I quickly gave him his pacifier and rubbed his back. It was one of the girls that I went to high school with. She looked like she was having a really hard time with her baby and on the verge of tears. An older nurse asked her if she could hold her baby.

She willingly handed the baby over.
