It takes a lot of time and patience to not do anything. Today was a field trip. Seniors only. I was at the back of the group with earbuds in. It was a museum of wolf history. I knew it by heart. I silently followed not paying any attention except to certain pieces that were pointed out. That's what we are going to be tested over.

At the end of the trip, I was the last one on the bus. They forced us two to a seat. Guys on one side and girls on the other. Does not really work unless you have an odd number and an even. They number us too. That's always how field trips worked since middle school. If someone moves out of the school, the next to move into the school in that grade gets that number. It goes by last name too.

When we got back to the school, we were dismissed instantly. I got my backpack out of my locker and went the long way home. Today I wasn't late. I went straight to my room and did some work and reading in my room. They won't chose me to be the valedictorian because I'm not popular. The unpopulars would though. There are more of them than the preps put together in our grade.

As I read, my parents entered the house. They didn't call me down even if they had guests. I'm their failure they wanted a son. That's why they don't notice me. They always expect a boy to be coming down the stairs each day hoping that I was just their nightmare. It never phased me that they would always want a son. It still doesn't today.

I walked to my window and looked out a second before going back to my bed to read some more. When I finished it, I put it back on the shelf before pulling another off. It was a copy of the ancient artifacts book. Not many have a copy. It's even rarer to have the real book. Only the highest ranked wolf in the world has the real book. I only have a copy since I recorded and wrote it out myself of someone reading the book word for word.

I looked through it reading the whole book in one go. I could tell they were eating dinner without me. It's no big deal anymore unless it's a family dinner. I got a shower before sitting next to the window and drawing the sunset. This is what I do in my spare time. It's relaxing really. The front door closed and out walked a family.

I knew who they were. The oldest was a guy in my grade. My parents flaunt money they don't have to rich people who in return think they are rich. My grandparents are rich. My aunts and uncles are rich. My parents are not. The deal made was that you have to love your child for ten years before you inherit money.

They only loved me in front of the family. That's how they lost their fortune. I went about my usual night before going to bed. I wasn't a heavy sleeper. I slept so light it wasn't funny. When morning hit, it was the same routine. Get dressed, get ready, eat breakfast and out the door. Get to school on time, hope there's no fight, grab my books and go to class. Today was another rough start.

There was a fight between two of the unpopular boys right near my locker. I stayed put until I absolutely had to move out of the way. They barreled outside of the building onto the sidewalk. I got my books, threw my backpack inside and went to class. Life is harder than anyone could expect. I paid attention like normal keeping to myself like normal. I tried to go through with my normal routine.

Some days failing miserably.
