She wipes the tears from her eyes as she feels him sit down next to her. Her shoes scratch against the pavement.
"I'm here." In that single moment, she is so grateful for him. Because he doesn't tell her that everything will be okay, because he doesn't tell her to stop crying.
"I've ruined everything." She doesn't even attempt to control her sobbing. She's raw. He shuffles and motions for her to lean her head on his shoulder. Her hands find his.
"No, you didn't."
"I really did. Again." He gently wipes a strand of hair from her face. He wants to hit something. She shouldn't be this upset. She should never be upset.
"We can still do this. We have a chance."
"You do." She sniffles, "They're probably going to kick me out. And then you'll break up with me. And I'll be alone and I'll hate myself forever." He turns her face so she's looking him in the eye,
"They wouldn't do that to you, Pipes." He frowns, "And I would never do that to you." His eyes are glassy, "I love you. And you don't need to hate yourself because you're amazing and you're going to redeem yourself."
"Why are you so perfect?" She attempts a smile.
"Trust me, I'm not."
