I asked you to vote, but in that time I wrote this. An homage to old times. Be warned, it's pure fluff. Just, reminiscent fluff. Doesn't have a huge purpose, but after THAT episode, I'm in a sort of "yay!" mood, so.
She, Piper, was in love. Oh, it felt so good to think that out loud. She was in love. In love. She wanted to cry. She wanted to jump up and down and twirl around. She was still partly convinced it wasn't real. But, last night. She knows she should probably be thinking about the effort he went to with the dance and the song- his voice was so…wow- but all that was on her mind was the "I love you."
She felt so valued. She was so…happy. Oh. Oh no.
"Amy, we have a problem." She says, bringing herself back to reality. They were all lounging in the green room, awaiting a meeting with Shawn. The entire team turn to look at her, all wearing the same concerned expression. His brows furrow and his look is genuine. "Oh my gosh, you all care about me way too much." She even laughs. "This is not that type of problem, anyway." He gives her a defensive glance which only makes her smile more.
"What's up?" Her best friend asks as she leans her head onto Henry's shoulder. He does a horrible job of hiding how joyful this gesture makes him.
"I'm too happy." She remarks, matter-of-factly.
"What?" The team all look confused, and he stifles the urge to chuckle.
"I see you!" She points at him, mock-angry. She can't be properly mad at him. Not yet. She was getting used to this whole love thing. "It's an actual worry."
"In what way?" He questions, grinning. She blushes at his smile. When did he become so attractive?
"Piper?" Kenzie waves a hand in her face, and Lily gives a knowing look. She got caught staring at her boyfriend. Great.
"When I'm happy, it means the world is about to explode. Things are about to get a lot worse." She says by way of explanation.
"That makes no sense." He arches his eyebrows.
"It does. The last time I was close to this happy, you asked out Amy."
"I'm sorry. To both of you." He scratches the back of his head and guilt floods his expression. "But that's one incident."
She shakes her head.
"The time before that, I messed up my aerial. Before that, a guy I really sort of liked rejected me. Even more before-"
"What guy?" He interrogates.
"You are not jealous."
"I might be!" She sends him a flying kiss in response.
"As I was saying, Emily cut me from A-troupe."
"I'm-" The Studio Head looks down in embarrassment.
"You gave Amy my place. So I can forgive you. Further back, we lost regionals and then when I first joined, I watched my brother's girlfriend kiss a guy who wasn't my brother."
"Yikes." Henry replies.
"My point is, if I'm happy, it's only temporary. And everything is about to go wrong."
"Pipes," He says. His voice is unnaturally quiet. It's soothing. "You can enjoy being happy. Everything is not going to spin out of control." He moves so he's sitting at her feet and takes her hand.
"You're amazing," She whispers, "But you don't get it." Her voice returns to normal. "Amy, there was a second yesterday where I was at zero percent." She faces her friend. Henry's eyes widen but everyone else on the team looks puzzled.
"Zero?" Amy inquires.
"Zero." She repeats. "I've, I've never been there before. It was like, all my stresses disappeared. I was that happy. I was with my family and I was proud and I was in love and I was at zero percent." She finds it very hard not to react as he squeezes her hand on he word "love."
"So was I." She says like it was a realisation. "We made it. Piper," She giggles, "I was so happy for you, and," she meets her own boyfriend's eyes, "I was so happy for me and the team and I was at zero."
"Ay!" Henry high fives her. "You guys made it!" Finn still has no concept of what's going on, he just listens.
"Yeah." Piper picks at her nails, nowhere near as excited, "We did. So, I'm right. Now what?"
"We could stay, here at zero, for a while." Amy smiles. "Take in every moment, make it last?"
That's what she needed to hear. It could last. But would it?
"I hope it does."
"Take it one now at a time." Her best friend says, impressed with herself that she came up with that.
"One now at a time. Okay." She takes a deep breath. Then she lightly taps him on the shoulder. He rotates to look at her.
"You and me. We're going to stay at zero." She studies the team, "We are going to do this, guys." Some of them nod, others still appear lost.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." He pushes some dark hair aside.
"I know."
She kisses him.
