she wakes up and you're not next to her

She knew you weren't there in bed any longer before she opened her eyes. Her arms felt empty and cold without you there to hold and keep her warm.

She didn't wanna get out of bed, but she knew she wouldn't be able to fall back asleep without knowing where you were. The blanket was already at her feet like you had kicked it away when you left the bed. She got out of bed and listened to her feet pat across the carpet.

"Y/n?" She called out for you as she searched through every room upstairs first. She was so tired. Her eyes felt heavy and she felt like she could just lay right back down and go to sleep wherever it was she was standing.

But she snapped out of her sleepy haze when her ears caught the sound of voices coming from downstairs. She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and made her way down the steps. Feeling a little worried over where the voices could be coming from, she took the stairs two at a time, admittedly much more awake now than before.

Relief flooded over her when she reached the last step to find it was only the tv on a bit of a higher volume than usual. Her head turned upon hearing you snore and it was then that she saw you on the couch, out like a light with the remote there on your chest and your head was thrown back against the throw pillow with your lips parted as snores escaped your mouth.

She tried to pry the remote from your fingers without waking you, but she was unsuccessful. She felt a little guilty to find your eyes open wide when you seemed to be in a deep sleep just seconds ago.

An apologetic expression appeared on her face as she brought her hand up to caress your cheek. "Sorry I woke you."

You stretched your legs out and just shrugged in response.

"Why are you asleep on the couch in the first place? Our bed is so much comfier." She giggled, and as her fingertips brushed along your cheek it only seemed to make your eyes droop more, contentment rushing through you.

"I couldn't sleep. I really didn't wake you, not after the week you and the girls have had. So, I just came down and turned on a show and I guess I fell asleep."

Jisoo felt a little sad to know that you didn't wake her. "That's what I'm here for, y/n. For nights like these when you can't seem to sleep. I could've turned on the tv in our room where you could've stayed in my arms!"

You cupped her chin with the palm of your hand. "I know. I'm sorry, I was just frustrated."

She nodded understandingly.

"Let's go back to bed now. We can just talk or something till you fall back asleep."

She grabbed the remote from your hand and shut the tv off. The room was pitch black but you weren't afraid at all. Not since Jisoo was still right there with you and wrapped her fingers around your own. She helped you to your feet and you both made your way back up to the bedroom.

When you were back in bed you were crawling right back into your girlfriend's arms. She kissed your forehead and let her lips linger there for a few seconds before they pulled into a smile. You grabbed the blanket from the edge of the bed and draped it over you both, and then set your head right back down on her shoulder.

"Anything on your mind?" She wondered. She wanted to make sure there weren't any worries lingering in your mind or eating you up inside. She wanted to make sure there wasn't anything keeping you up, other than you just not feeling all that tired.

"No. I'm alright." You moved your hand over hers that rested over your stomach. "Thank you for asking though, and for caring. I love you."

You felt her lips touch your cheek and it brought a sleepy smile to your face.

"Anytime. Are you tired enough to go back to sleep? Or is there anything that you need to help you?"

"Actually, there is one thing that would help greatly." You whispered into the dark and quiet room.

"Yeah? Tell me. I'll do it."

It always made you feel so good, so happy, to know how much she loves and cares about you.

"Sing me to sleep. I don't care what song, I just wanna hear your voice."

You could feel her smile against your shoulder as she leaned down to give your skin a soft kiss. "Okay. Close your eyes."

You did as she said and soon heard her beautiful voice in your ear. She started to sing 'stay' to you and as she did, she gave you little kisses across your skin and would let her thumb brush along your palm.

And as you fell asleep, with a tiny smile on your face, all you could think about was just how much you loved and adored her.

"Love you, y/n. Sweet dreams." She whispered a few minutes later when she knew you had fallen asleep, back in her arms where you belonged.
