His Obsession (On Going)

Chapter 4

Melanie's POV

"Tell me everything,"Ela shrieked immediately everyone left and we were in my room.

"Okay I know I'm being stupid right now but I allowed him to kiss me,"I said and looked at my best friend with guilty eyes.

I knew she was disappointed because she didn't want me to be used or hurt.

She came to hug me.
"I understand,Mel but I don't want you to mingle with him. That guy is bad news. Promise me that,no matter what,you won't be in a relationship with him. I know I'm being persuasive but Mel,I don't want my best friend getting hurt."

I knew what she was saying was the truth but I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. I mean what an unlucky girl am I?

I probably like a player who I used to despise. And you know what hurts the most? If I gave in to his advances,he'd just use me and dump me.

I finally pulled myself together and hugged Ela.

" I promise that no matter what,I won't be in any relationship with him."
With that Ela smiled at me and we went downstairs.

When we went down,Caleb and his parents had already left. I sighed in relief and went to the kitchen to do the dishes.

When I came back to the living room,I saw Ela and Nick looking at each other with distaste? I couldn't pinpoint what was going on but I think Ela said something to make Nick angry.

I cleared my throat to get their attention.

"What's going on here?"

"Oh Mel,it's nothing,"Ela said nervously but I wasn't convinced. I was going to ask her later when we were alone.

I heard Angela crying and I quickly went to her crib. Mum was taking her bath and she obviously wanted breast milk.

I gently picked her up afraid that I might break her bones. I started singing Rockabye by Anne Marie and played with her cheeks in a feathery manner and she stopped crying.

I smiled inwardly at myself for making her stop crying. I sang till she was fast asleep in my arms. I really loved my little sister.

I muttered a silent ' I love you ' to her before I carefully put her back in her crib.

I went back to my room and I saw that Ela had packed her things and was about to leave.

"Ela,why are you leaving so soon?I thought we agreed that you'd leave tomorrow so what happened?"

"Mel,it's nothing uh something just came up,"she said in low tone.

I knew she was lying but I knew she would tell me when she was ready. I hugged and saw her off. I knew it had something to do with Nick.

I quickly showered and did my homework and landed straight on my bed and soon darkness engulfed me.

"Morning mum",I greeted her as she prepared breakfast in the the kitchen.

"Morning Mel,why don't you sit so that we eat breakfast together,"she suggested.

"Oh I'm so sorry,I can't mum. Ela will be here any minute,"I said apologetically.

"It's okay. Here,take some lunch that I packed for you."

"Thanks mum. Oh and where's Nick?" I asked looking around for him.

"He left earlier because his Jewelry company is expanding so he decided to go early to check a few things."

Oh okay. I was very proud of Nick. He was always working hard and now his hard work was surely paying off.
