Melanie's POV

"It's so obvious I love you"

I don't know how long those words have been ringing in my head.

"Melanie? A-re you okay?"
Caleb's voice drew me out of my reverie.

It's not like we've been the best of friends but things are going to get more awkward between us.

"Huh? Yes yes I'm okay"

"I'm not asking you to say it back or for it to be reciprocated. I-I just wanted you to know how I feel. I know I've been nothing but an ass to you ever since I've known you but believe me I am truly sorry. I'd do anything for you to know that I mean it."

I was short of words. I mean what am I supposed to tell him? I know I used to have a miniature crush on him but right now? I'm not so sure plus I don't know if he's even telling me the truth.

"Uh Caleb...uhm I gotta to go"
I couldn't even recognize my own voice right now.

"Sure"he smiled at me.

"Uh Melanie?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yeah go ahead"I replied while looking down.

"Please don't get too close to guys when I'm around. It hurts seeing you with them. I know I have no right to ask this from you but uh you know it's just a kind request"

But what about him and Ashley?

"Uh okay. Bye"I rushed out of the lab looking like a very ripe tomato.

"Hey why are you blushing?"Jiela bombarded me with this question immediately I entered the car.

"Oh I bet she had a quickie with Mr hottie!"Darryl replied sheepishly.

"Oh shut up,Riri!"

He just laughed.

"Hey! What are you guys not telling me? Who's Mr hottie?" Jiela shrieked while driving.

"Just ignore Riri,Ela. He's just crazy. I just spoke to Caleb and he's making a big fuss about it"I rolled my eyes.

"Melanie!" Ela glared at me.

"What? I didn't do anything okay?"

"You owe me an explanation!" Ela retorted.

"Yes mummy"I mocked.

"Hey you guys! I'm still here! What am I missing?Darryl asked looking completely confused.

"We'll just tell you later. Wait,why don't we sleep at Mel's place today? Riri,will you be able to come?" Ela asked Darryl while secretly laughing cos of the nickname we now call him with.

"Ugh don't tell me you're also going to call me Riri now?"he groaned.

"I'll call you whatever I want Riri! Now tell me,are you coming or not?"Ela laughed.

"If there's food, I'm surely in!"he grinned.

"So you're telling me Caleb was a total jerk to Mel before but you guys put him in his place and now Mel and Caleb have nothing to do with each,right?"he asked as he plopped down on my bed.

I felt kinda guilty when Riri said last part. I feel like I should tell them what happened at 'Parkerwoods' but I didn't want to make Ela mad or disappointed. I promised her that I'd have no encounter with Caleb but for the first time in forever,I had broken a promise I made to her.
