Chapter 15- Never Letting Go

Ritchie's POV

"because I'm losing control" he said, suddenly panicked.

"okay, erm. Michael, what do you want me to do?" I said calmly.

"whatever you have to" He said right before his eyes glazed over and his skin paled. Sitting next to him no longer held that familiar warmth but instead a harsh cold that I'm sure no monster I've fought has held.

His head tilted as his eyes focused on something behind me. I tuned slowly so that I could still see Michael but the object in question as well. His dagger.

How did that get there?

I dove forward in an instant, grabbing the dagger and rising to my feet.

Michael was now also on his feet, glaring heavily at me.

I swiftly turned, throwing the dagger over the hedge in the direction of the now arriving crowd. I turned to Michael. He was still glaring daggers at me, his feet now poised to attack. This wasn't going to end well.

Michael dived forward, pushing all of his force into my chest. I flew backwards on impact, landing harshly floor behind me. Michael was now on top of me raising his arms for his next attack.

I raised mine, blocking his hand with my fist before spinning us over so I was now on top of him. In response, Michael kicked upward, sending me flying backward yet again.

I jumped to my feet, raising my fists in a defensive position. Facing me, Michael was mirroring the same position. I guess that's what happens when you train together.

Then he charged.

A fist went flying towards my face, one I blocked with my own. Then there was a kick sent towards my side. I dove out of the way. Now, another punch. I dodge that one too. He dove at me again, in an attempt to flip me over. I saw it coming, readying myself. I caught him before he reached me, holding him for the brief time he remained before yanking himself out of my grip.

An elbow was sent flying backwards while he dislodged himself from my grasp. I caught my chin slightly but I paid it no mind.

He continued sending punches my way for what felt like hours. His foot slammed into the back of my knee. A punch to the back on my shoulder. A scratch down my arm.

But... I couldn't bring myself to do anything back. It was still him.

That doesn't mean I didn't block though.

And I did. Most of them at least. I blocked the fists towards my face with my own. I caught him when he flung himself at me. I dodged the kicks sent my way.

They just wouldn't stop.

Then, without warning, he slid between my legs. The next thing I felt was a punch to my spine that sent me stumbling forward. I turned just in time to dodge a fist coming straight towards my face. I took this moment of weakness to pull him into my chest, my arm holding tight across his shoulders to prevent escape.

I panted for a few moments, catching my breath.

What now?

I need to break hi out of this, but how?

It doesn't look like he's in the mood to listen but the only other option I have is to knock him out.

I exhaled, "Michael. I don't know if you can hear me but I need you to listen. I need you to listen to my voice. This isn't you and I need you to snap out of this. I...I don't know what else to do"

Tears were pricking at the edge of my eyes.

"Michael, I just got you back, I'm not losing you again"

I was crying now.

"Come on! Snap out of it!"

I was panicking.

"Come on, please. I don't know what else to do!"

I was hyperventilating.

"No, come on! I just got you back!"

My breath was hitching, my cheeks now stained red.

"Michael, I love you. Please... come back to me"

A pause.

Silence.

Then chaos.

The body in my arms went limp. Me falling to the floor with him, never letting go.
