Chapter 8
Michael's POV
We started off stealth, slowing taking out monsters from the back and making our way forward. We had archers like Austin and surprisingly Xylo at the back sniping while others ran forward with swords. However, the stealth didn't last long. Once we began approaching monsters with swords, others caught on quickly, meaning stealth went out of the window. Most people had instinctively paired up for protection like I suggested at the beginning but due to the size of the horde people got split up pretty quickly. One of those people included me. I was currently stood in the centre of a ring of monsters, turning slowly watching. I could see in the background as lightning struck the ground and hurricanes flung past. I could see waves appear out of nowhere and slam down a row of monsters in one go. I watched as arrows flung overhead, hitting their mark perfectly. Well... I mean, a few went a stray but overall, pretty good shots. I could hear the clank of swords. I watched people dive and slash as they did so. I swear I even I saw someone jump on somethings back. They were fighting pretty damn well.
I, however, was in a bit of a predicament. Surrounded and alone. 1 v 5. Not great odds. And to think I was the one telling people to stick together. Doesn't matter now. I've just got to wait for an opening, slide out then attack from behind. That would work in theory. Lets just hope it works realistically.
And it did.
After only a brief moment, a cyclops stepped forward, swinging a bat as he did so. I took my opportunity and slid beneath the bat, jumping up once I was behind him. I spun around instinctively and swung, watching as he fell to the ground in surprise. I stood tall as I sent a wave of swords in their direction, taking out the rest.
I turned around then just as Ritchie landed beside me in a pant. Ritchie huffed then looked up, "you okay? Thought I was going to have to come help then"
I chuckled, "nah, all good here. How you doing?"
"bit tired but I'm good" He said, sending a hurricane off to his left to knock out an approaching beast.
"duck!" I yelled as I watched the creature approach from above. I had no clue what it was but it didn't look nice. I dove to the side as Ritchie ducked before standing behind him to watch the creature land. It looked like an oversized burnt chicken... but evil.
Ritchie straightened beside me, "what in hell is that?"
"I have no clue but it doesn't like us"
"clearly" He said. The bird turned, eyeing us up before charging forward again. I pushed Ritchie to the ground out of its path but before I could move myself, a claw gripped onto me and dragged me upward.
It was at this moment I really wished I could fly.
Ritchie had got over his shock and had set off flying upward towards me. I'm pretty sure Bri had noticed too and was heading over. Her wings flapping and her panting in the effort it took. Everyone below me was blurring, becoming smaller and smaller as time went on. It took most of my effort just to see Ritchie, who was gaining height below me.
I grabbed at the claw holding me, unsure whether it would be safer to hold on or let go, however as soon as I grabbed a hold, the bird let go and I was sent flying downward. Everything went by in a blur as I fell. It was one of those moments where I could swear time slowed. I saw the bird shrink out of my vision in agonising slow motion. The clouds shot upwards all around me and my hair had blown upwards into my face, blocking my vision.
I felt myself hit something hard just before it all went black.
First, I want to say sorry for how long it took for me to get this out because it took waaaayyy to long for my liking, and second, I want to say thank you for all the support this has been getting because its genuinely amazing. I literally just published this to get it somewhere other than my laptop and now it has over 700 reads and that's incredible. Thank you very much. Pretty sure I'm over my block now so I should be able to post way more often and I also have big plans for this. Overall I'm very excited and overwhelmed. Here's to more whump I guess.
Also sorry its short but... its a good cliffhanger so its staying. Sorry not sorry :)
