Having Alyssa Drake as a shadow seemed to be something different, she was pretty much ready and able to defend him from Melissa, he refused to her by such a title. Only he knew now, blood would have been spilt and all he could do was slowly accept it into life her at Belgrave.
It brought him here, groaning out to Alyssa, it would seem like he was the student and she the patient professor ready to assist him.
"You know, I'd rather not have the escort, Alyssa."
A soft laugh was heard to his left, striding next to him in a green jacket was the protege herself. Turning his head, he found himself giving her a smile in return, the first since this had all begun and he found that they were serious with their regards to his safety.
"Well, I'd rather not piss off the temple magus, Vera is adamant that you are to be protected. You seem to understand her and to what we first thought, she did not kill you, that says a lot about what you are to her."
He could almost feel the fear radiating off of her, whether it was Vera or Melissa, he did not know. Xander felt odd ever since that moment where Melissa had passed along her thoughts, feelings, and memories...it was all too much.
He had never told anyone but he had a feeling Vera suspected, and he did not tell her the other big furry problem on campus. Then again, it was not his secret to tell and he had to make sure to keep tabs on Melissa, otherwise more problems would arise.
"Well, tell me when you and everybody else figure it out. Melissa seems ready for whatever you throw at her, and guarding me? Well, it seems like she has prepared for that as well. I don't even think preparing is going to stop her, I think...we're playing right into her hands."
He stopped himself, grunting as he felt a feeling come over him, glee and for a moment, it felt like an out of body experience before he fell to one knee and Alyssa's features soon fell into concern as she ran over, checking him over.
Blood, laughter, and more blood.
Gasping, he looked up at Alyssa in worry as she could only feel how tense he was under her hand as it was placed on his shoulder, she tried helping him up but he didn't budge.
He looked elsewhere, in front of her and tilted his head to the side before he stood up with a soft release of air. Striding forward with purpose as a hand was placed on him, a distant voice calling to him.
"Professor Grey! Professor Grey! It's me, Veronica, are you okay?"
Blinking, he looked at her with a soft smile, not even realizing what he had been doing moments before.
"Veronica, yeah I'm fine, why do you ask?"
It was only now that he noticed the feeling from before had faded, soon returning were the feelings of worry and fear. He could feel it in two directions, almost as if scratching, clawing at him for attention before he settled himself with another release of air.
"Alyssa was over there, calling for you. It just seemed like you were a bit preoccupied, we just wanted to make sure you were okay. You were walking back over to the History building, you didn't hear me for me a while, by the way, could we talk Professor?"
He found himself immediately saying yes, regardless of what it was, he had realized that Veronica had been caught in this world for no other reason than pure chaos and being unlucky. Surprisingly enough, Melissa hadn't used her a bargaining chip for his surrender.
Maybe he was thinking of too many action and drama movies in this situation...shaking his head, he looked back at Veronica, as Alyssa made her way to his side.
