Losing her parents at a young age, Kiki grown up being more mature for her age. Her parents passed away in a accidental crash when she was 2, the crash deflected many negative emotions on the girl, but after all she was just a child. Lay's parents as her parent's close friend during the time they were alive took Kiki under their care. Kiki has always wanted to be a professional figure skater, yet YiXin definitely had a influence on her. He's idol life begun when Kiki was very young, that gave them little time to bond, little time to talk. However, some how it still gave Kiki the dream of being an idol too. Her singing skills has always been high, after training and her flexibility of dance as she did ice skating made her easier to adapt to being a trainee.
Like all parents, her family were against her going to South Korea. Starting a path she didn't know the end to, yet the success of her brother's training in Korea made Kiki's parents change their mind, they believed Kiki should have a touch of her own country too. At the age of 11 Kiki moved to South Korea, at this point she had no language barrier. Her parents made sure she spoke her native language well and fluent. Entering bighit was "the best decision i've ever made" so she said. In 2013 she was 13, BTS debuted. PD and her manager thought it was really not a wise choice to debut someone who just turned 13 not too long ago. They kept her training for two years until "I need you" came out. That was also an amazing decision, even though she was still a minor Kiki told by her actions she was ready for the fame and hate thats not come.
