CHAPTER FOUR

It had been a couple of months since Nina began her term in MIT. Time flew by so fast that it was already the holidays yet again. Her sister and mom would keep her posted on what was happening back in Freeridge. Cesar would always come over especially with Oscar in prison and with his mom out of the picture.

Tony ended up noticing Nina after those two weeks of leaving her high and dry. Her and Tony would talk every now and then about what was happening back in Washington Heights. But she had to admit that their relationship began to dissipate ever since he began dating another girl, Maya. Maya seemed like a really nice girl but Nina couldn't help but feel jealous and saddened about it.

No, Tony, we did not end up okay.

It was Christmas and here she was stuck in her dorm. She didn't have enough money to fly back home, to which she insisted that she was okay with but she couldn't help but feel lonely. She was invited to a Christmas party by one of the students in the dorm but she was still contemplating if she wanted to go.

Her mind would always go back to her first and only party in Freeridge but easily shook off that memory of Oscar. It was definitely a one time thing. Victoria wouldn't stop teasing her about how she hooked up with Spooky.

"I can't believe your first ever one night stand was with a Santo. And of course it had to be Spooky," Victoria teased her that day. She ended getting a pillow thrown at her face.

Nina could use a little company. After sitting in her bed for a few hours watching Christmas movies by herself she ended up taking a shower and making herself pretty for tonight. In the midst of her getting ready her phone started ringing. She went over to see that her sister wanted to FaceTime so she picked up her phone.

Feliz Navidad mi hermana!" Victoria greeted with a grin on her face.

"Merry Christmas to you and Mami!! I miss you guys so much," Nina frowned. She noticed that Victoria was wearing a Christmas sweater and that she hooked up fairy lights on her head board again. Nina was slowly starting to miss her family even more.

Te ves hermosa! Where are you going?"

"I got invited to this Christmas party tonight so I might as well go," Nina shrugged before going back to applying her make up.

"Now don't go too crazy on the drinks you know what happened last time," her sister smirked. There was no way that Victoria was gonna let that go. It was so unlike Nina to do what she just did. It made her worry at first but the fact that Nina pulled off a stunt like that was somewhat amusing to her.

"You are never gonna let that go are you?" She glared as she shook her head but all Victoria could do was laugh. "What about you guys? Any plans to drink tonight?"

"Just dinner over at the Martinez place," Ruby and his family had grown accustomed to Victoria and Carmen. "And no. No drinking tonight," she added and Nina couldn't help but snort. Nina knew that the holidays were a time for them to get fancy with the drinks.

"Well just because I'm not there with you doesn't mean you shouldn't drink," Nina joked putting down her make up brush and setting it down on her desk. She turns to Victoria and notices that something was wrong with Victoria's expression.

"I mean I can't drink," Nina noticed the change in tone of her sister's voice. There was clearly something wrong and Victoria had yet to tell her what was going on since her sister had left for college. So much has happened since she left for college.

"Have you suddenly developed an allergy to alcohol?" Again Nina tried laughing but the atmosphere in their conversation had shifted to something uncomfortable. "¿Qué pasa? ¿Esta todo bien?" Nina's eyebrow furrow as her sister can no longer seem to look at her.
