CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

After the whole Brentwood fiasco, Nina decided to just stay in the following day. Surprisingly, Oscar was down staying with her the entire day too. Every now and then he would excuse himself to make a few calls but regardless he stayed by her side for the entire day.

Nina didn't take tutorial sessions in Brentwood anymore after what happened. She'd probably get back to it soon but she wasn't exactly comfortable going back there after her incident. Thank God it was school season again so she would end up tutoring kids here and there around Freeridge.

Excusing herself from working in the bodega the following day was also a little tricky because that meant she had to explain herself. Again. In the end, she ended up telling Angelica that she simply needed a day off because she was coming down with something. Fortunately, Angelica didn't need any details and Berto was kind enough to simply give her the day off.

Her stay in with Oscar made her feel really happy and safe. Knowing she could chill and be herself around him made her feel confident and pretty even if she was doing simple things like reading or watching TV.

It's been over two weeks since the incident and there was this dance at the high school later that night. That only meant that Cesar was out and Oscar was, hopefully, available later on. To her good news he was and she invited her over.

Although she had been expecting him to come over tonight, they ended up spending the day together.

"Oscar?" Nina raised her eyebrow as she opened the door to see her novio.

"Sup, mamas," he nodded stepping inside as he gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"I was expecting you just to come over tonight?"

"I just got here and you want me to come back tonight?" He laughs.

"N-no! I just- I wasn't- I haven't even showered, man!" Nina whines following him further into the house.

"It's fine. Go take a shower," he said smirking while taking a seat on their couch.

For some reason, Nina found that really really attractive. Just him saying that made her blush. He was wearing grey sweats and a black tank top. It was obvious that he wanted to spend the day with her and he looked good for playing the part.

Ever since the incident they haven't really kicked it since it made her feel queasy. Through the weeks she'd been able to relax a little bit more especially when Oscar had been so comforting after. He made her feel safe and he gave her the assurance she needed and wanted. And she was forever thankful for him and the way he was.

Just being with him now and seeing the way he was made her think things. Maybe it was time to put herself out there again in their relationship. The way he just sat there and how he was going through stuff in his phone turned her on. Him in control. Him knowing what to do.

"What's wrong, baby?" Oscar nodded noticing Nina fiddling with her fingers. He noticed her staring when he looked up from his phone.

"N-nothing i-it's just... I really need a shower," she blushed while Oscar looked at her slightly confused. "Care to join me?" She asked shyly.

It perked him up a bit but he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. "Are you sure? I mean, it doesn't have to lead to sex-"

"I-I know. I mean, whatever happens, happens but I just want you in the shower with me," she answered biting her lip. The fact that he asked if she was okay with it even turned her on.
