Two days have passed since the encounter with Daniela, and things have flowed fine since then, but I can't avoid the intense feelings Xenon affects me with every time I'm with him. If I could just turn my back and walk away, I would, but I love him so much that I can't leave him, even for a mere second.
The Insigma Fighters are still having a hard time dealing with their fans, but if they manage to get away, they make time for their classes and for us.
Right now, I am heading to the Insigma Fighters mansion to bring this packed food for the boys, especially made by Drena. It is getting dark—just the right time for dinner.
Suddenly, I stop in my tracks. One, two, three... nine of them. They've been following me since I got out of the girls' dorm, and I can feel dark intentions in their auras. I keep walking, but this time, instead of heading toward the Insigma Fighters mansion, I change my direction, heading into the forest at the back of the school.
The forest has been destroyed because of the nuclear explosion before, but some trees remain standing. It has become spooky for some, but a hidden chamber for me. Sometimes, the most dangerous-looking places are the safest.
I walk innocently, but when they recognize where I’m heading, I feel fear radiating from them.
Who might they be? Why are they after me when they seem to be cowering in fear of the forest?
One thing is for sure... they are not from the Tarre Mafia.
I smirk. They dare to face me; that's enough for their bravery. When I reach the forest, I take a few more steps and say, "Come out."
But they remain hidden in the distance, fear radiating from them, hesitating to come out.
"I won't say it again—" I was about to say when a man jumps out of nowhere, swinging his sword right at my head.
But before the sword reaches me, I duck low to the ground. I gather my force and run swiftly; with just a swoosh of air, I’m already pinning his neck against the tree.
He moves his hand, aiming to stab his sword into my belly. I hesitate, wondering whether to let the sword pierce my flesh or not. I need pain.
But then, the face of Xenon, full of worry, pops into my head. My heart beats louder as I swiftly grab the man's arm with my free hand before the sword lands on my flesh. His movement is too slow for me.
"Why are you following me?" I ask, my voice cold.
But before he can answer, I hear someone pulling the trigger of a gun from a distance. So, I turn the man's head and jump onto the branch of the tree as the bullet passes and strikes the already dead man.
Right there come out eight men; they seem like assassins based on their suits... and from the looks of it, they are paid assassins.
Who could have paid them? Why are they targeting me?
I let go of the branch, letting myself fall to the ground.
"What brought you here?" I ask plainly.
"To take your life," one of them answers coldly.
Someone in my position might have been shivering in fear because of their looks and scary voices, but I remain calm, licking my lips... pain... kill.
Smirking, I ask, "Who sent you?"
This has been on my mind; I really want to know who has the audacity to send me these gifts.
"It doesn't matter since you're going to die," the other one says, laced with anger in his voice.
