Hospital Garden
6:32 pm
Courtney BarlowI was in the garden sitting down in my wheel chair. The procedure went well and Duncan's father left the hospital. Duncan came out and kissed my cheek. He sat down on the bench that was next to me and cupped my hand.
"Duncan, what happened with you and your father?"
He sighed.
"Courtney. I haven't really wanted to talk about this to any other person. But you? I promise I will tell you. Everything. Because you deserve to know everything."
I looked at him and leaned on his shoulder.
"My father wasn't the most promising person. He destroyed my dreams, killed my hope, and always tried to make it better with one of his father son talks. Which just made everything worse."
He started to tear up.
"And when him and my mother got a divorce, I decided to never see him again. Until I was rushing over to the hospital and got stopped by a cop car."
I looked at him to see a tear trail down his face.
"And it was my dad."
We stayed silent and then I saw Duncan's father sneak behind the bushes. But I didn't tell Duncan.
"But he wasn't the best father. He did a stupid job of helping others, he didn't care about my feelings, or anybody else's! I'm glad he left. And I'm glad I would never have to see him again."
Then Duncan's father left. Duncan saw me looking at a bush and looked down at me.
"He was just there wasn't he?"
I nodded my head as Duncan got up and pushed me back to my room.
But that whole night I couldn't stop thinking about what happened between Duncan and his father. So I slept long and hard about it.
