Hiccup started their decent with Heather still on Toothless and Windshear following behind them as they approached the island a few of the villagers waved to them as they passed by and landed at Hiccup's house where Hiccup and Heather dismounted Toothless.
"Here we are this is Berk?" Hiccup said to Heather as they started towards the great hall to find Stoick assuming that he would be attending to chiefly duties inside.
"That's the forge where I used to and still do work I help gobber with alot of jobs and tasks there like sharpening weapons or forging new ones." Hiccup said pointing it out as they ascended the steps towards the great hall.
"I also helped with designing some of the houses though most people dont know that." Hiccup stated
"I knew you were good with metal working but I never knew you could designe houses." Heather said amazed looking at all the houses around the village trying to figure out which ones Hiccup designed
"Ya alot of the people here dont know how much I have done and I kind of like it that way although I always inscribe my initials on any of my metal work I have done on the tang of the weapons." Hiccup said with a smile which Heather returned as they reached the doors to the great hall.
"Can you wait out here while I ask my dad about the horn its the kind of matter that is only surpost to be discussed between us and I dont think he would like it if someone he doesn't really know yet." Hiccup said in a bit of a frown on his face as Heather would have to wait longer to find out who her family is.
"Its ok Hiccup I understand I have waited this long I'm sure I can wait a bit longer." Heather said taking the horn off her belt and placing it in his hands.
"Thank you Heather I'll try not to be to long." Hiccup said with a smile as he went through the doors of the great hall leaving an anxious Heather outside.
Hiccup saw his father at the table as soon as he entered and made his way over to him.
Stoick saw Hiccup aproching and stood up "Ah son, what brings you back home are the things on the edge going well?" Stoick asked Hiccup while putting a hand on his shoulder and bringing him to the table to sit down.
"Ya things are going great on the edge most of the riders left on a mission to destroy a fleet of Viggo's ships about a week ago only me and Heather stayed behind since I was sick Heather came with me she has been through some stuff recently and I didn't want to leave them at the edge alone and they wanted to see berk them selfs." Hiccup responded taking a seat next to his father.
"Dont worry son they are some of Berk's finest warriors they will be fine I'm sure of it and any friend of yours is always welcome here." Stoick responded reassuringly taking his seat aswell.
"You still didn't answer my question son what did you come all this way for?." Stoick questioned.
"What cant a son spend some quality time with his father every now and again." Hiccup said in a nervous tone
"Not this one now out with it son what's on your mind." Stoick said seeing right through Hiccup
"Well Dad could you clear the hall out this is something kind of important that I dont think either of us want everyone hearing about." Hiccup said rubbing the back of his head nervously.
"Everyone out of the hall please we have some private matters to discuss between me and my son." Stoick bellowed and everyone promptly exited the hall.
Once they were sure everyone was gone and there was no one that was listening in Hiccup spoke up.
"About a week ago this washed up on the Edge's beach." Hiccup started handing Heather's horn to his father for him to inspect.
Stoick examined it with a expressionless face as Hiccup continued.
"I know about the horns meaning it means I am betrothed and to be married to the owner I was wondering if I could know who that is and what tribe they are from." Hiccup asked his father in a questioning tone.
Stoick handed Hiccup back the horn and pulled a hand across his face.
"Years ago just after you were born there was a meeting between tribes to discuss and renew peace treaties there were chiefs from the Bog Boggulars Bezerkers Meatheads and a few others that I cant recall the names of. The chiefs took turns between eachother discussing treaties and trade agreements and when it came Berks time to discuss with the Bezerker cheif Ozwald The Agreeable he told me about his daughter that was just born before he came to the assembly and he wanted to make a deal that in exchange for your betrothal to his daughter we would become allies permanently along with open trade between our people it was a fair trade so I accepted it and gave that horn with my cheif seal on it to be given as a sign of our agreement to his daughter. When I got back and told you mother about the agreement I made she was furious with me saying that I shouldn't have made that kind of deal until you were older to have your input." Stoick finished placing a hand on Hiccup shoulder with a tear going down his face.
"I am sorry son I should have asked for your approval on the matter when you were old enough." Stoick said in an uneasy voice
"Its ok Dad you were just doing what was best for Berk I understand." Hiccup said reassuring his Father
"Besides I think it would have worked out in the end anyway." Hiccup said with a smile
"What makes you say that?" Stoick said with a questioning look
"Just a feeling I have." Hiccup said back to Stoick smiling as he got up to leave.
"I'm going to be on Berk for the next few days to rest and I enjoyed out talk Dad." Hiccup said as he went towards the doors of the great hall somewhat dreading that he was going to have to tell Heather her brother is Dagur
