I've been receiving a lot more homework requests over the past few days. One of them even came from Stephen. I hate to admit it but I plan on doing that one first.
I'm on my way back home from the rec room right now. I'm almost to the stairway when I notice someone's following me. I resist the urge to run down those stairs and never look back and instead, like the smart person I am, I turn around to greet the stalker.
It's Stephen Headers.
"I noticed you were avoiding me in the halls earlier today. What did you forget about our little arrangement?" He asks, taking a step closer to me.
I take a step back and he takes three steps closer. He's now close enough that I can hear his breathing and I'm pretty sure he can hear my hear getting beating from how loud it is. I turn around and prepare to run away but he grabs my book bag, from behind me, and pulls it away from me.
''No, I wasn't avoiding you.'' I lie calmly reaching for my bag but he pulls it out of my reach.
''Don't lie to me little girl!" He yells pushing me back. I can feel myself loosing my balance and next thing I know I'm falling down ten or eleven concrete stairs, hard.
I land upright but then fall to my knees as I scream out in pain. I can feel tears rolling down my face and I vaguely hear Stephen curse under his breath as he tosses my book bag down beside me, where it crashes down spilling out everywhere.
He then runs off towards the school parking lot abandoning me. The optimistic part of my brain wants to believe he's going to go get help but the realistic part of my brain knows he's too selfish for that. The thought of this brings fresh new tears to my eyes. I wipe them away with my hand and notice a bloody scar on my palm. I look down and notice my knee is also bleeding, except a lot worse.
My hands begin shaking and I turn over my knee to assess the damage before cringing at the sight of my own blood splattered on the ground. I almost pass out when I'm suddenly alarmed by a familiar voice.
''Rose, oh my god! What the hell happened!?" Cameron calls out before he and all of the guys quickly run over to me.
They all look extremely worried and a little bit...angry? Noah tries to lift me up but I cry out in agony as my ankle begins throbbing with pain. The guys gasp and Noah quickly apologizes, like five times, before placing me back down on the ground gently.
"Okay tell me what happened, now!" Mark demands. When I don't respond he yells "NOW!" the rest of the guys look at me with a mixture of concern and anger.
"I-I fell." I don't want to lie, but I do.
"That was a pretty hard fall." Jamie says unconvinced.
"Yeah, I'm a bit of a klutz sorry." I smile slightly but then whimper as the pain in my knee registers once again.
Jamie flinches towards me as if he's about to do something but doesn't. Instead he sighs and begins placing my stuff back into my book bag, Noah helps him.
"This is my last time asking you Rose. What happened!?" Mark asks persistently.
I can't bring myself to lie to him again and why am I lying for that asshole Stephen anyway. Okay it's time to tell them the truth, the whole truth. I'm spilling the beans. I'm telling them everything. "I already told you I fell." Failure.
"Hey bitc-!" Leo calls out to me, presumably tired of my lame excuse, before being cut off by a slightly nicer Jamie.
"Yeah, but how did you fall Rose? Did you trip or were you pushed?" I nod my head at the last part and stare down at my bloody knee. All of the guys let out an angry breath and I can feel their eyes burrowing into me for more details.
