She stood in the dark

Burying her fears within

And fought her own wars

Against the darkness closing in.

Spreading warmth on cold days,

She kept burning bright

And shone wherever she was placed

Be it happy days or gloomy nights.

She was using up her wax

But that didn't dim her light.

Her only aim was to hold the light out

And show others that the dark is alright.

The wind hated her spirit.

He kept trying to blow out her flame.

But she kept holding on to it

And calling on her Maker's Name.

Cause she knew she was being held

In the palms of His hands

And she knew nothing could harm her

Unless it was in His plan.

Towards the end of her life,

Her light started to flicker.

The wind laughed and asked her

"Now, are you going to bicker?"

Even when it hurt her,

She didn't speak a word

Until her flame died out completely

And she left this world.

You may think that's the end of her story

But no, that's not true.

She's gone to her Heavenly abode.

Look up, you'll see it's true.

She's now in a better place.

Yes, she's one of those stars in the sky.

She's run her race, she's finished her course.

Now, she's resting with a smile.

Even though she's gone,

Her legacy will still live on

And burn bright within our hearts

Inspiring us to go on
