Chapter 015

After arriving at this apartment Erik unlocked the door and let Katrina step in first then he followed behind and closed the door behind them.

They took off their shoes, put slippers on and both walked into the kitchen.

"Okay, you can watch some TV or play with your phone and I'll cook something for you"

"Why? I want to help"

"Oh sure", Katrina smiled.

Katrina and Erik have known each other since their university days and haven't been apart ever since. They know each other pretty well and there's nothing that's unknown between them.

"You know, I actually have been talking to Maksim recently. We've some common interests and opinions and for some reason, I'm starting to like him"

Erik was chopping some vegetables when he stopped after hearing Katrina say that. He placed the knife down and glanced over at her without any emotion.

"You like Maksim?"

"Yeah, at least I think I do"

"Wasn't he the one who lied to you about me? And wasn't he the one who came late for an investigation a few weeks ago? He may be a smart man and a great forensic pathologist but a boyfriend or reliable he isn't"

It's clear to Katrina that those two have some bad blood between them ever since the hospital incident and a few other problems that occurred prior.

But she believes that every person deserves a second chance.

"Maybe you should give him a second chance"

Erik sighed.

"Only for you"

Katrina threw whatever she was holding onto the table and spread her arms to wrap them around her good friend and pull him into a warm and loving hug.

"Hope I'm not going regret this decision, but If I do. I'm going to kill him"

"We're detectives, not criminals. Don't threaten"

Erik rolled his eyes and, despite Katrina's unstoppable and unbreakable hug, he continued to cut the vegetables and pursued with the recipe.

After their long cooking session they placed their plates on the dinner table and began eating the food they cooked.
