Chapter: Seventeen
Layla

Today is the day of the Christmas party. It is currently December twenty-first, I've really distracted myself from my heartbreak by taking part in Christmas activities again. I don't know what I'm going to do once Christmas is over, maybe push myself into preparing for college and working on my designs more.

I wrap the last present i have left to wrap which belongs to Dylan, i quickly wrap it as i hear him coming up the stairs i tie the bow around it and write his name on the name tag.

He opens the door and enters my room. "What are you doing Lay Lay?" He asks coming over and sitting next to me.

"Just finished wrapping presents" I tell him. He smirks and looks at the presents, he tries to find his name but the tags around facing the wrong way.

He shrugs his shoulders giving up. "Well mommy wants you to come downstairs" He tells me.

I nod my head. "Want to help me bring these downstairs?" I ask.

He picks up two small presents as that is all he could handle. I pick up the rest and try to concentrate on where i am going, i can't see the steps so i just walk very slowly. I reach the bottom of the stairs and my mum grabs some of the presents off of me and puts them under the tree. "I was told that i am requested downstairs" I say putting presents around the tree.

"Layla stoop, you can't just put them anywhere" She moans at me.

I put my hands up in defence. "It's all yours mother, all yours" I smile at her and she laughs.

She neatly puts the presents around the tree. "So are you still going to Dan's party tomorrow?" She asks.

I shrug my shoulders. "I don't know, i feel rude not to i have basically abandoned my friends these last few months" I admit.

She nods her head understanding. "Maybe it would be good for you to spend sometime with your school friends. I miss seeing Dan he was lovely" She gets up finished with tree.

"He's got a boyfriend now" I tell her. My mom loves the gossip that i tell her about my friends.

She gasps. "Really? That is so lovely, he deserves happiness" She smiles at me.

I check my phone and see the time. "Mom it's five, we need to leave in two hours and i haven't even showered" I tell her getting up.

"Try not to take to long honey" She warms me knowing i take hours.

I nod my head. "I won't mom" I chuckle.

She calls my name causing me stop by the stairs, i look at her. "Please be honest with me, are you okay?" She asks. I can see the worry in her eyes and it makes me feel a little guilty, i don't need people worrying over me.

I sign. "No, I'm not. But i will be I'm just distracting myself and keeping busy at the moment" I explain to her. "I promise if i need someone to speak to you will be the first person i come to" I hug her tightly.

After an hour of having a shower and drying my hair i sit on my bed and just take a moment to breath. Apart of me had hoped that i would of heard from Brandon by now, another part of me knows that I'm hoping for too much.

I quickly straighten my long dark hair. I do a natural makeup look as i am really not into makeup as much as i am into fashion. I rush through my makeup once i see that in need to be downstairs in 15 minutes. I check myself in the mirror before going to put my dress on making sure i haven't screwed up my makeup.

"Layla you have five minutes" My mom yells.

I quickly throw on my mesh black red dress with some black strapped heels. I grab my phone and make my way downstairs. "I'm here" I smile at my mom and Dylan.
