My life was perfect for once. But one fateful day had to ruin it. It was late on a stormy winter's night. Aston was driving home because he'd been to see his family who lived in Peterbrough. I'd driven round Peterborough when I went on holiday with my parents because we went to the seaside. I knew the roads weren't very good and that was in the daytime and dry conditions when it wasn't pouring down with rain. I wasn't fazed by it really because I had an early night before it had started raining and I knew Aston was a good driver. How naive I was. I should have worried. Maybe what happened was a punishment for me not worrying about him. If that was the reason then I totally blame myself for it.
The first thing I knew about anything was when I got a phone call in the middle of the night. I woke up putting my bedside light on and looked at my phone. It was Aston's Mum. I just thought she was ringing to say Aston was staying there for the night. But I was wrong. Really wrong. I picked up the phone and yawned. "Hello?" "Danie it's Aston." Her voice sounded panicked and shaky. What was going off? "W... what about him?" "He's been in a car accident." She said quietly as if she couldn't believe what had happened. "His car went off the side of the road and hit a tree." I was quiet trying to let this information sink in. "What?! Oh my gosh is he OK? Where is he? What hospital is he at?" My words rushed out in a state of panic. Worry hit me then which I should have already felt. "I don't know yet. I don't know how bad the crash was. He's in the ambulance and they've taken him to hospital. It's nearer to where you live so you should get there before us." "Right OK... I'll get there as soon as I can." And with that I put the phone down.
I just sat there for a second trying to take it all in. So many questions were rushing round my head and I couldn't keep up. Was he OK? How bad was he? How long would he need to be in hospital for? What would I do? I got out of bed as quickly as I could and threw on the nearest clothes I could find. I needed to get to that hospital and as fast as I could. I needed to know he was OK. I ran into my parents room. "Mum!! Dad!!" They groaned. "What Danie? Were trying to sleep...." "It's Aston! He's been in a car accident and they've taken him to hospital. I don't know how bad he is though...." I started crying. I couldn't handle it something serious had happened to him. He can't leave me not now. Not after he's made my life actually worth living....
In a mass panic we were soon ready. I had packed a bag just in case because I didn't know how long I was going to be at the hospital for. I was silent the whole journey and just stared into space. "I'm sure he'll be fine Danie..." My Dad said after the while. I know he was only trying to make me feel better but it really wasn't working. "And how do you know exactly?" I said still staring straight ahead. I began to picture Aston crashing his car. It was horrible. That is one thing I really didn't want to think about but I somehow couldn't help it. "I don't but Aston's a fighter and I know he wouldn't leave you for the world." He smiled a little. I looked at him. "You think so?" "I don't think so I know so."
We reached the hospital and both my Dad and my Mum were about to get out but I was still staring out the windscreen. I was scared, really scared. I didn't know what to expect. "Danie?..." My Mum asked quietly. "Yeah?" I replied. "Are you coming in?" "I'm scared too..." "Aston would want you there." I nodded and then slowly got out of the car. This was it my worst fears would be real as soon as I stepped into that hospital room. How would I be able to cope seeing my boyfriend so hurt? Not very well and I knew that before I even stepped through the hospital doors.
