It's a geek life (Aston Merrygold fanfic)

Part 5

It was Monday morning. I switched the alarm clock off to have an extra 5 minutes in bed like I usually did. School again oh wonderful.... I did enjoy sixth form more then I had enjoyed normal school even though I'd been there for a term and a bit.  You wanna know why? Well I was bullied for years. Literally years. From infant school right until year 9 at secondary school. I was bullied for my my bad teeth and my music taste. I had braces on for 8 years because my teeth were that bad. They were off by now though and they looked so natural I still can't believe it now. The orthodontist said my teeth were the worst he'd ever seen so yeah. And I had a completely different music taste to everyone my age. I loved "old school stuff" like Motown, Rock and Roll and Rock. They were all into the emo/screamo type music. Not that I have a problem with that as you like what you like right? My favourite artist was Michael Jackson. Yes I even got told told to jump under a bus for that. Honestly I did.

Now I'm in sixth form the people who bullied me were gone. Yes there still was some annoying people there but ones that I knew weren't going to be like that towards me. While I lay there thinking about all that my 5 minutes were up. Time to get up and get ready for school. After eating my breakfast and cleaning my teeth I got dressed. I put on leggings, a pink jumper dress and some ugg boots. Nice and toasty for a crisp and cold autumn day.

My school bag was soon as over packed as ever. It always was it was ridiculous. One of my 3 best friends from school Frances came to meet me so we could walk to school together. "Hi Fran!" I smiled at her. "Hi Danie!"  She smiled back at me. "Nice weekend?" I went quiet. "Oh yeah... I did thanks. How about you?" "Oh I finally dumped my boyfriend." I looked at her. "Really?" "Yeah, I have." He hadn't treated her right. He'd cheated on her with 2 girls. Believe me if I see him he's gonna get a piece of my mind. Well he is really tall, older then me and really scary looking.

I hugged her. "I'm sorry." "You know there's no need. You know what he did. It's not exactly a secret." "I know but still. I'm sorry he was such an arsehole in the first place." "I know me too. But at least I join you in being single now." She said positively to me. She knew how much it was awkward for me when all my friends talked about their boyfriends or ex boyfriends. I had nothing to say... not even about an ex or something. Only because I hadn't had a boyfriend before. That's when I thought of Aston and Frances could tell there was something up. "What's wrong Danie?" I snapped back to reality and looked at her. "If I tell you promise you'll keep it a secret." "Of course I will. You know I will." We did a pinky promise knowing neither of us had ever broken one. So I told her the story of my weekend and Aston.

When I was finished she looked at me. She didn't reply for a moment or two and she worried me. What was she thinking? Did she think the same think as me that he could be a paedophile? It then sunk into her and she let out an excited squeal and clapped her hands. "Oh my gosh Danie! You have a boy that's interested in you." "Hey!" I exlaimed as she nudged my side. "Didn't you hear me? He's 23." "Yeah of course I heard you. That's only a 6 or 7 years age gap. It could be worse." "How could it?" "This Aston could be something like 10 or 15 years older then you." "He nearly is though." "Just text him and say you want to meet him Danie. Please? for me?" Damn she was so persuasive! But dare I take her advice?

As if right on time I got a text from him. "That's him isn't it?" She said excitedly as she looked at my screen without even asking. But that's best friends for you isn't it? Acting like they own everything of yours. At least I hope so anyway. I clicked the message and we both started reading it.

Fran looked at me. "How can you say he doesn't like you? I mean no other boy jokes about with you like that." She winked. "No I know. They don't talk to me and you know that." "Yeah I know. You know what they say though Danie. Grab the bulls by the horns and all that." Great no pressure on me then. I replied to him.
