Twenty one

Ashley's POV

"Where's JJ?" I ask in a sharp voice.

I stare down at my hands that are handcuffed to the table. I was in my pjs and it was probably around 5:00 in the morning. Sheriff peterkin was watching me carefully as I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.

"Funny thing is he asked the same question a million times about you." Sheriff peterkin said as she laughed.

"Can I go? It's 5:00 in the morning and I'm tired." I say as I look up at her.

"Ashley. You were caught vandalizing the Cameron's boat. You can't just leave. I called your mom and she will hopefully be able to get you out of here. You will have to pay the restitution." Sheriff peterkin said to me.

I sighed as I looked away from the sheriff. She called my mom!

"My moms gonna kill me." I say under my breath.

"Did you call JJs dad?" I ask her hoping she doesn't say yes.

"Of course I did." She reply's to me.

"Shit!" I yell as I kick the table.

I don't care about what my mom does to me but JJs dad was a drunk who didn't give a crap about him.

"Calm down, JJ will be fine." The sheriff said trying to calm me down.

"If you have ever met his dad you know that's not true." I say as I look up at her.

Her eyes stare at the ground as I can tell she's thinking. She walks out of the room leaving me alone. I tap my leg impatiently as I wait for her to return. She comes back a couple minutes later and unhand-cuffs me. She leads me to a front desk where I am met by my mother.

"Ashley I was so worried about you." My mom says in a fake tone as she hugs me.

"You fucking dumbass. You know how much this is gonna cost me!" She whispered in my ear so only I could hear.

She pulls away from me and talks to the front desk lady. I look over to my right and see JJs dad. I see JJ enter the room and I immediately run up and hug him. He embraces me in his arms as he holds on tight to me. I take in his scent and the safe feeling of being in his arms.

"I'm sorry. I got us into this mess." I whisper as I hold him.

"It's not your fault." He whispers back.

"Your dads gonna kill you." I whisper in a scared voice.

"I'm more worried about what your mom will do to you." He said as he pulled away from me.

"Let's go Ashley!" My mom yelled at me.

"I'll see you at John Bs. Okay." JJ whispered as he squeezed my hand.

I walked away from him hoping I would see him again. His dad wouldn't kill him right? The next time I see JJ I know he won't be in great shape and neither will I.
