Distractions

~Chapter 9~

"You're Hyejin, right?" the boy asked.
"Yeah...why?"
"I'm Jaehyoung, Jungsoo's friend. I need to talk to you." he cocks his head towards the entrance. "It's about Jungsoo."
Hyejin tells Seonmin she'd be right back. They walk towards the entrance to talk.

It was dismissal and Jungsoo was going to walk her home, so he waited at the entrance. Hyejin finally comes out.
"Hey!-"
She walked right pass him. Jungsoo was confused.
She didn't see me?
He walked up to her.
"Hey," Jungsoo tried again.
She kept walking. He grabbed her arm.
"Are you ignoring me?"
Hyejin looked into his eyes for a split second then looked away. Jungsoo moved her face to face him.
"Why? Did I do something wrong?"
Hyejin looks at him and backs away from his grasp.
"Am I just a bet to you?"
"What? Of course not-"
"Your friend told me that you only approached me to prove to your friends that you could 'pull' me," Hyejin said, holding back tears.
Jaehyoung. I'm gonna kill him.

Jungsoo couldn't get anything out.
"Right. Thanks."
Jungsoo's silence confirmed it for her. She sarcastically smiled then walked away. Jungsoo was about to catch up to her but he decided that he was going to talk to Jaehyoung.
Hyejin kept walking, hoping he would chase after her but he just let her go.
He really let me go, huh. I can't believe I actually fell for him. Embarrassing.

Haewon and her friends watched them fight with a nasty smirk on their faces.
I didn't even have to do anything.
She left the scene to catch up to Jungsoo.

Jungsoo ran around the school looking for Jaehyoung as his blood boiled of anger. Haewon tried to walk up to him when he walked to his friend. Jungsoo found him at the back of the school, smoking. He speed walked to him then punched him.
Jaehyoung held his cheek in shock.
"What the fuck is your problem?!"
"What's YOUR problem??"
"What do you mean?"
"You know what I'm talking about, dickhead."
Jaehyoung quickly remembered.
"I felt like she deserved to know."
Jungsoo lost his cool at this point. He pushed him dropping him on the floor, then pinned him down.
"Why the FUCK did you have to mess this up?" Jungsoo punched him. People started watching.
"Dude, you literally used her to prove that you can pull girls." Jaehyoung said, pushing Jungsoo off of him. "And don't fucking touch me." He shoves Jungsoo hard so that he stumbled back. Jungsoo grabbed him by his shirt and slammed him against the brick wall behind him. At this point there was a crowd forming around them.
"That was BEFORE I CAUGHT FEELINGS FOR HER YOU FUCKING SHITHEAD!"

The area flooded with whispers.
"Who's he talking about?"
"I bet it's that girl he sat with at lunch."

You're kidding. Haewon thought.

Jaehyoung immediately regretted what he did but he wasn't going to let anybody beat him up. Jaehyoung pushed Jungsoo off of him and punched him once hard. Jungsoo falls on the floor. Jaehyoung kicks his torso twice.
"You're really going to let a girl get in the way of our friendship?" Jaehyoung said after kicking him. Jungsoo didn't answer. At this point they were both bruised and bleeding.
"Alright then. Fuck you." Jaehyoung stepped on him then pushed pass the crowd and walked away, leaving Jungsoo on the floor.
Nows my chance... Haewon thought to herself.
"Baby, are you okay?" Haewon ran to Jungsoo and lifted him up to his feet.
He eyed her disgusted at the name "Baby."
"Don't call me that." He pushed pass her and the crowd to walk away. Haewon followed behind him.
"She's got you in this much trouble...why're you putting yourself through this? You've only just met her."
"Mind your business."
"You literally just fought your childhood friend for some girl you met like a few months ago. She's not even anything special."
"No, she is. And you're not. Get out of my way."
Haewon stepped back watched him walk away. She was shocked and hurt.
That fucking bitch. She thought.

Hyejin walked home, heart broken.
I knew it was too good to be true.
She immediately ran up to her room and locked the door. She went to her bed and cried into her pillow.
I hate him. I hate him. I hate him.
She sobbed until she fell asleep.

Jungsoo walked home. By the time Jungsoo got there, his dad was gone again. He went to the bathroom in his room to try to treat his cuts and bruises. He went back to his room and decided to call Hyejin. She didn't answer. He was a bit worried so he kept calling. She never picked up, so he decided he was going to go to her house the next morning.

The next morning, Hyejin woke up from a knock on her door.
"Honey, you locked yourself in there for a whole night now... Are you okay?"
Hyejin checked her phone to see 19 missed calls from Jungsoo. She turned off her phone.
"I'm okay, dad. I'm not going to school today, though. I don't feel too good."
"Okay...just make sure to come down and get some breakfast. You didn't even eat dinner."
"I will."
Hyejin stumbled to her bathroom holding her forehead. She had a pounding headache. She took a long shower. She then remembered why her head was hurting. She cried herself to sleep because of him. Remembering what Jaehyoung said to her, she resumed her crying in the shower.

She finished and went downstairs for breakfast, pretending she wasn't just crying. She smiled and greeted her family and ate breakfast.
