I woke up in the middle of the night to hear my phone ringing. I glanced at my clock and saw that it was 1 in the morning. Checking the caller ID, I learned that it was Steve. "Hullo?" I said, my voice thick with sleep. "Tanya!" He said urgently.
"Yes, that's me," I mumbled. "I need you to go down to the Avengers Facility as fast as you can," He said. "Why?" I asked. "Vision's been attacked, and Tony's gone missing," He said. "Let me see what I can do," I said.
"Bring your gear," He advised. "Is it necessary?" I asked. "Tanya, the entire universe is at stake. At this moment, we are at war," He said and hung up. "Jesus Christ," I mumbled, rubbing my eyes as I sat up. I got up, changed into my old assassin's gear after securing my weapons, and tucked my picture into my pocket.
I trudged downstairs after leaving out some food for Onyx, barely visible during the dead of night. I got into my truck, punched the address into my phone, turned on my headlights, and started towards New York. I reached the border, got allowed through, and continued driving towards the facility. The sun rose as I drove, bathing the surrounding trees and roads in soft light. "For once in my life, I severely hope you're wrong Steve," I muttered.
The sun was fully up by the time I pulled up to the gate in front of the facility. I parked my truck nearby and approached the fence. After determining that it wasn't electric, I climbed the gate and landed on the opposite side. "That was easy," I said to myself. As I crossed the lawn, I spotted a quinjet perched on top of some concrete.
Picking the lock, I walked inside the facility and into a lounge room to see Natasha, Steve, Wanda, Vision, a man with glasses, and a man with robotic legs gathered there. "How did you get in?" Rhodey asked. "I hopped the fence," I shrugged. "Who are you?" Rhodey asked. "Tanya Stark-Livdottir. And you are?" I said, holding out my hand.
"You're Tony's daughter. I'm Rhodey," Rhodey said, shaking my hand. "Tanya, you're here. We were just about to leave," Steve nodded. "You know her?" Rhodey asked. "She was on my team," He said shortly. "Come on, let's go. The faster we get there, the faster that stone'll be destroyed," Natasha ushered us back out the door.
Yeah, Steve was right.
a/n Okay, so there isn't a meme for this chapter, or the next one, because I'm publishing this on my brand-new laptop, which currently doesn't have any memes saved on it and I don't feel like going meme hunting right now.
