TW; mentions of death in some detail
Stranded on a highway she lies carelessly in the middle of the dangerously crowded road, but she has yet to care. Obviously she hasn't thought of the people around her- and she won't- why would she? Only a few hours earlier she found out her whole family had died because of an accident she had caused. She feels numb, but the rain catches her off guard, giving her a small bit of hope, hope that she drowns in 2 inches of water. It could happen.
She caused the accident, yes. But she didn't deserve to die- its not how life is planned out- the cars stop in time for her not to be injured by the wheels, but it doesn't exclude the busy people with anger issues that want her out of the way, they have a life to get on with of their own. Just because she has problems doesn't mean she has to break others because of it.
Or does it? Even though she said that she wanted her family to die, didn't mean she actually *wanted* her family to die, its just a wreckless saying, but comes with a life long thought of regret. She's afraid she will go down with them.
She's not suicidal, but she wants to see her family again, hug them one last time before she crumbles under the weight of their deaths. "What doesn't destroy you leaves you broken instead" right?
This has happened many times, but the others broke easily, they crumbled, they vanished eventually in their guilt, they vanished in their own mind. But everyone knows, eventually everyone will give up.She smiles as the van doesn't notice her, finally taking her last breath of acidic air, guilt free at last. By the time the people warn the driver, its too late, the blood manages to splatter on the windshield and the bumper, showing the driver, exactly what he hit.
Careless thinking leaves a lifetime of regret for other guiltfree people.
