These Halloween files are meant to be chilling and upset your feelings or lack of, this story takes place a few hours ago at that, on a street that is dark and cold but normally very light and relaxing to the neighbourhood, but yet doomed with ghosts and demons from the past people who have kicked the bucket into hell, most likely.
When you see something immediately your brain hits you with a brain from an anxious over thinker, there was nothing there you keep repeating, but you know deep down that it was, it is there and you just saw it, and you can never un-see that.
You have fallen into the hole of the dead, right? Wrong, youre still here, although now you know what is real. However, Vinnie didnt know what they saw when they had encountered the thing that hides in their closet, they describe the ghost as silent and vengeful, but had also said that the ghost that they call Maria had been voiceless at one point and extremely pale and thin.
Vinnie understood that Maria is dead- thus probably why she is so pale and dead like- unfortunately however this isnt the story of a person who was haunted by a friendly ghost, Maria didnt haunt Vinnie, Maria possessed Vinnie, constantly shadowing and stalking them while they did any activity.
One transparent night, Vinnie came home from work, almost effortlessly being pushed back down the stairs by the cruel, violent force from behind. Vinnie new that what was happening wasnt the activities of a harmless and wholesome ghost that was originally with them, but there was nothing that they could really do, it was mocking them from every room in the house, there was no escape.
So, they got involved with ghost hunters and paranormal instigators and they all tried to help, hell they even asked a priest to bless their house, but it still didnt stop anything and they were still being stalked everywhere they went, and then Vinnie discovered The Crimson Star newspaper had previously explored the case of Atlas Murphy, a deceased sailor who had been killed by a captain, and as the death was violent he haunted the captains cabin constantly until we solved the case of his murder.
This isnt what our usual cases are, but this one was definitely worth mentioning as the captains death was a file that went unsolved for years until we managed to pull some evidence from the Old Creek down one of the many twists and turns in Salt Pine, the Old Creek was only small but it had short shacks around the property to house the homeless when theyre in need of warmth.
So, The Crimson Star newspaper unloaded the previous case files and went digging again, this time to find out more about the ghost, Maria, who has not stopped haunting Vinnie since she had visited the site of the murder 5 years ago. And thats when we discovered there had been another murder on board of that ship, but this went many years back, almost 55 years ago; an engineer who was from Westcoast, a town located only a few miles from Salt Pine, her name was Maria Ardena and she had not been able to rest in peace.
That was until she found Vinnie, who had reminded her of one of her deceased sisters, and then match was made, well a one-sided match anyway. Vinnie had then come to us for help, uncovering the previous case she had wanted to meet with the reporter who had written the account, which was me, well the person writing this right now anyway.
I had told Vinnie that I dont deal much with ghosts, and as previously mentioned I dont write about them frequently, but there are some cases that I just cant help but understand or close, that do involve ghosts. She had told me she doesnt want help getting rid of Maria, even told me that Maria has started to become friendly and keeps her lonely ass company until she can afford to get a dog, but all Vinnie wanted to do was understand exactly why Maria wanted to be close to a living person, she thought it was maybe for comfort or have a friend, but no exact explanation could be determined.
Which Is why she came to us in the first place, telling us about how it was a disaster from the start because she had kept Maria out and not done anything to welcome her into the home, however she mentioned how when she went to the site of Maria (and Atlas Murphy)s death she must have disrupted something in the atmosphere- this was presumably correct.
The Crimson Star dug as much up as we could, from where Vinnie was standing she must have welcomed an entity into her home by accident or well, it could have followed her home, as Vinnie said that Maria wasnt always a nice ghost, we put two and two together and realised that she could have been murdered in an extremely horrific way- which we then fought to find and eventually did. Maria Ardena was killed by one of the lower cooks, who had a record of dating girls and then they suddenly disappeared which is why nobody found Marias worn out body until it had reached the shore of one of the further towns from Salt Pine.
With this knowledge in mind, we told Vinnie everything we had found, and once she understood why Maria was still following her, she grew to like her more, and was deeply saddened by what had happened to her on board of that ship to make her a ghost, which explains why she was still sticking around by the ships last known whereabouts, she only needed a person she could trust, she only needed a friend who could solve her case.
That being said, The Crimson Star newspaper helped solve the case of Maria Ardena, a missing twenty three year old from Westcoast, she had left behind her family and some friends, who were extremely happy to know that what happened to Maria is now also an open case to find the murderer and get more justice for the deceased girl who only went on board that ship to make money and help her family with their debt. But now that case file about Vinnies ghost can be closed, another ending for what seems to be, a now harmless ghost.
