The Halloween Files: Man, I Quit

The Crimson Star newspaper has gone through many cases, some are still open and ongoing, and the majority are closed, but our team never seems to be surprised when we encounter a new shocking murder and a new case, I don’t think it does however get any easier when we investigate the deaths of the people as they were once alive. But like every Halloween File case, we are taking you along the way on what we like to call one of the creepiest cases we have probably ever discussed to date, this is ‘Man I quit.’

We had gotten a call a couple of days ago about one of the closed shopping malls’ alarms being tripped, so we went to investigate, the owner said he was scared if he went alone he would find something upsetting, his words, thankfully not mine. Instead of just calling the police he decided to call a fucking newspaper company, okay I guess, but we still went with him, just in case we actually found anything that we could mainly write about.

Which, as you probably guessed, is what happened, we searched everywhere but there was no definite sign of a break in, thus suggesting to us that it was probably a glitch- but that’s the last thing that actually occurred. Then we heard the petrified scream of a fifty eight year old man and that’s when we found out why the alarm had been sent off. We calmed down the man who stuttered out a response to one of my team members asking him what scared him, and he said the mannequin had been so freezing cold and pale that it looked life like, and it had momentarily caused him to be afraid, understandingly anyway.

But then we took a closer look at the ‘life like’ mannequin, after all we’ve had cases like this that just end up being actual fake mannequins and the owners have just been delusional, but it’s always better to check. He directed us to the female mannequin, staring hard at the wall in front of her she definitely did look as she was once breathing, and that’s when I noticed her eyes, glassed over and her pupils were dilated, then I touched her pastel, soft skin, it was icy and odd for a mannequin. I thought about it for what felt like years, but them discussed it with my partner and she had also agreed that this doesn’t seem right, so we did what any investigator would do; we called the morgue.

We asked them if they had any female deaths in their mid twenties with black hair and cool blue eyes, and they said yes and it had also gone missing only a few hours from the freezer, that was when the dots were connected- her name was Macy Gordons, a twenty three year old who had only been here for a few days on business but had been at a bar one night and met this girl who she had gone back with, and then the next day had ended up in the emergency room because of heart and liver failure, that day she had also died.

Macy had gone through multiple cases of cardiothoracic shock and not managed to survive through the third and final one, in under 2 hours we had rang up Salt Pine Medical Centre and gotten the autopsy reports on the case, and poor Macy had no chance of survival, she had traces of Mercury in her system, which links as to why she had arrested on the table numerous times. As of now, this isn’t just a missing person being found, this is a murder and one done out of spite and vengeance, as to why we don’t know yet, but we will.

Macy had only a sibling left of her family that had all passed away over the years because of incidents and accidents, like for example her mother had died giving birth to Macys younger sister, Eliza, but she only survived a couple of days before her respiratory system also failed because of medical errors. Her father had only passed a few years ago from a stroke that had happened because of his poor diet, and one of Macys brothers, Alvin who was the youngest brother, had suffered through years of mental issues and subsequently had jumped off the Roller Rime bowling alley and ice rink only three months ago, causing Macy and her older brother to fall into depths of depression and debt caused by all of the medical bills they paid.

Macy had now left her brother alone in the big world, but once we had managed to find him he said that he knew one day it would happen, after all he thought his family was cursed, which he gave for the reason of not marrying or having children of his own. He was understandably upset over the fact that his little sister had now passed away, and once we had told him that we were still looking into it he had grown aggressive and defensive, implying he knew more than he let on, but we didn’t push, after all, he might just be more depressed because of such a horrific death.

Macy had been found in Equinox clothing and accessories, and had been attired in a pure plain white dress with white slip on shoes and we only really declared this as the girl who died once one of the ambulances arrived and told us that she had been dead for quite a while but had been in the morgue for most of that time, giving us the suggestion that the person who had killed her only brought her to the clothes store right before the alarm went off in the mall.

In this case nothing was as it seemed to be, all of the twists and turns gradually got worse, much like when we eventually found out that Macy wasn’t murdered but yet had killed herself by the mercury that she had gotten from the girl she had met at the bar that night, we only know this because the girl had come forward as Irene Malkov, and also said she was Macys half sister, she also stated that Matt, Macys brother, was the official supplier of the mercury, and they both knew that Macy had killed herself because they were the ones who gave it to her. This altogether is extremely messed up and rather odd for siblings to assist each other in this kind of thing, I don’t doubt that they helped their younger brother either, this family is just damn right peculiar in every way.

But as we now know who actually killed her we take you down the weird path of who put her in the store and dressed her? Well that would be Irene, who with the help of her boyfriend carried her and managed to disable the alarms for a certain amount of time until they left, and that’s when the alarm sounded, giving the couple only a few short minutes to get away before we showed up. And as we come to a close, we can tell you that Irene, her boyfriend and Macys brother are now all serving time in Ice Vail jail, with the other criminals, each gained over thirty years for the assisted killing and not reporting the death to the police but instead taking her from the morgue and dressing her up like a doll. As always, stay safe and don’t murder anyone, please because it’s saving you from being around these criminals in Ice Vail.
