I feel someone shaking me and slowly open my eyes to see Bastien. I ask him, "what's wrong?" he looks at me as if I have 3 heads and says, " oh I don't know YOUR PARTY?!" I snap back to reality and push my brother out of my room. I scramble for my phone and call Emily. I tell her to run over here ASAP. After 10 mins, Emily barges into my room and hugs me. I take a quick shower while Em gets ready. I run out of the shower and quickly find my dress and throw it on. I do my hair while Emily does my makeup. After 15 mins, we were both done and were about to head out the door. Emily yanks me back and looks at my feet. She says, "and you were about to go out there barefooted. Like I would let that happen." she picks out some sparkly green heels and I haphazardly put them on.

I run around the pack and I crash into someone. I rub my aching head as I look up and find Jack looking down at me and laughing. He stretches out his hand towards me and helps me up. I dust off my dress and punch jack in the arm. He groans and I say, " that's for laughing at me you ass ". After he stopped groaning, I asked him, " where is everyone?" he replied with " somewhere. It's my job to get you there. But first, you have to put on a blindfold." it was now my turn to groan. " what is up with y'all and blindfolds?" he chuckled and tied the blindfold around my eyes. He grabbed my arm as he led me somewhere. On the way, I tripped over nothing about seven times. Jack couldn't take it and just made me piggyback ride on him, not that I minded. He finally put me down on a mushy surface, which I think is gravel because I can feel my heels sinking a bit. He takes off my blindfold and I open my eyes to see the garden decorated extravagantly. Everyone stops what they are doing and looks at me. They yell " Happy birthday Ariella!" I'm starstruck. The pack was decorated so beautifully. There were fairy lights running through the bushes of the garden, a huge sparkly banner above my head, and lilac coloured three-tier cake in the middle.

I look around to see wolves from neighbouring packs. But there was one pack that wasn't here, and I was happy about that. If they make an appearance, it's going to ruin everything. But everything was going well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I walk towards Emily, who's talking to some omegas. "Excuse me, ladies, can I borrow my beta for a moment? " the omegas bowed and left. I hug Emily and she squeals. " oh goddess I can't believe you're officially 18". " yeah, I can't either. Found your mate yet?" I say excitedly

" no, what about you?" she says dejectedly.

"Nope, Diana isn't reacting to anyone here."

"Well, the night is still young, and there's still one pack that isn't here". She says, hopefully."

"Yep," I say staring off into the distance. I walked around some more and it was time to cut the cake. Everyone was singing the 'happy birthday' song and just as I was about to cut the cake, everyone gasped. I look up to see them. My father goes to their beta and asks where the alpha is, he replies with " he will be here soon, He's doing something at the moment." I breathe a sigh of relief. I can still cut my cake. Everything resumes as usual and I cut the cake. It's distributed to everyone and I go to the place where they keep the presents and start opening them. Daniel comes over to me and kisses me on the cheek. " hey cookie, need some help?" I laugh and say, " yes please, I have many to go through". We both resume opening the presents and when we're finished, he starts kissing me, not that I mind.

We're both interrupted with something tackling Daniel to the ground. I pull the attacker off daniel and throw them into the nearest tree. I rush over to Daniel and check to see if he has any injuries. He has some scratches here and there but he'll be fine. I look back at the attacker and start growling. How dare they attack my boyfriend. As I was about to shift, the sanguine pack's beta rushed over to the attacker and helped him up. What the hell? They're helping someone from their pack? I hear the words, " Are you okay?" " do you want me to kill her?" wait, kill me? Just who the hell is this guy? As I was about to march over to the attacker, I smell a wonderful woodsy and after rain smell which makes me very excited because they're my two favourite smells. I follow that smell and find myself walking over to the attacker, interesting. Diana chimes in and says, Ari, this guy.... He gives me the chills.... The good kind.... Try not to harm him, dearie... okay.... That was weird... this guy is even making my wolf be nice. I grab him by the neck and ask him, what the hell was his business here. His eyes turn black and he growls not even wolf-like. What the actual hell? I drop him and my dad rushes over to him, apologizing. Why is he apologizing? I go over and the same smell hits me again, confusing me. I ask my dad this question, " dad, do you smell that?" he responds with, " what smell dear?" I reply with " that woodsy after rain smell". " no dear, why?" I sigh and say, "I don't know dad, every time I come over here I smell it." my dad hums and looks at the attacker. The attacker, however, kept on staring at me like I was prey. My dad addresses the pack and announces that the attacker is the Sanguine pack's alpha. Holy shit.... I just grabbed the Sanguine pack's alpha by the neck. Oh, goddess save me now.

My dad asks the alpha to say a few words and all he does is look at me again and says,

"Mate."

With that, I take off into the woods.
