Seventeen

NPov

Winter felt the lift reach the top and the doors slid open. Rod was right. They were very very high. When she looked down, Winter saw all the rages below them as red dots due to their red hair.

"Amazing how many of us there are ay? If it weren't for your powers, you would've ruled them all. Its a shame really. I would've protected you from that Helix guy. I mean. He's not all that good looking. Why did he get all the girls and not me? Ok. I can open up to you since I'm going to kill u right?", Rod said while looking desperate to get something off of his chest.

Winter sort of felt sorry for him and nodded with a scowl. She didn't feel that sorry for him.

"You, Summer, Axel and Helix were super popular as the four best friends. I was always jealous because I didn't have many friends. And then I was getting bullied one day and you came to the rescue. I immediately fell head over heels with you. That's why I took you and not Summer. I mean. She's really hot but-", the rest of what Rod said was a blur to Winter as she thought about how her life was going to end.

She hadnt even done anything meaningful in her life. She  felt so useless. Her mother and father would not have been very proud. She had disappointed them. If only she got a second chance. She would have done better.

"Step up here please. Yes. I will explain the procedure now", Rod said while laughing a bit.

Winter looked him straight in the eye and gave him the deepest scowl she could muster.

"Ok. So you step there and I'll push you off the edge. Try not to land with  folded limbs. It keeps more energy in you than the energy that gets to me.", Rod explained.

Winter just looked at him like really.  Winter tried to spread her wings to fly but Rod had tied them with a rope without her noticing. Crap. Was all Winter could think of. She was dead. Her plan was out the window. And there was no one to help her.

She closed her eyes and felt Rod push her off of the building. Gravity was pulling her to her death quicker than she wanted when....

WITH HELIX

Helix was halfway through his trip when the picture in his front pocket started burning. He pulled over and gasped in pain as the picture began burning even more furiously. He took it out and saw that Winter was glowing. He felt a sudden urge to touch her and slowly, he moved his index finger to her and when his finger met her face, he felt like he had had a location tattooed onto the inside of his brain.

BACK TO WINTER

When Winter was about 30metres above the ground, she felt herself be caught by strong arms and being lifted higher. She opened her eyes and saw a boy with brown hair and hazel eyes. Helix.

He had saved her. After all that she had done. He still saved her. That was truly. Something wonderful.

"Helix. I-Im so sorry. I acted like a total flerbinhermin. I should've helped you. I should've stopped you from leaving. I-", Winter said as her eyes began to water and she blinked her tears back.

"It's ok. I forgive you. I mean. You did act like a total flerbinhermin but that's ok I guess. That's what best friends are for right?", Helix said while smiling.

Just as Winter was about to say something else, she heard Rodney shout something and just as he did. All the rages began emitting a sort of red glow and soon, red beams were shooting out of them. Helix tried to dodge them but in the end, he got hit by a beam that Rodney had shot. It was particularly wide and powerful.

It had hit Helix right in the centre of his wings. But he still kept on flying higher and higher. He got hit on his leg as well. But he still continued.

"Helix stop! You'll hurt yourself more! You're injured! Land! I can try and help you!", Winter said.

"N-no. I have to get you there. You need to be safe. I can handle it. D-don't worry", Helix said while flying higher and higher.

"Where are we going? What do you mean you will be safe? You meant we right?", Winter asked frantically.

Helix did not answer. He just looked away.

"Right?!", Winter asked again.
