Twenty Four

NPov

Winter took a deep breath, did what Summer told her to and....

Felt the shield expanding and energy coursing through her veins. She opened her eyes and saw that she had created a dome. She, Zayne, Summer, Axel, Tina and the other pairs were all safe now. Well. Safe at the moment.

"You did it! You did it Win! Woohoo!", Summer said as she hugged Winter, avoiding her wings.

"Yeah. But I don't know how long it will last and we need to find Helix. He could be hurt.", Winter said seriously.

Summer returned the serious look, nodded then spaced out while trying to think of a plan. The company did so. Some pacing to think better. What could they do? Would it work?

"I have an idea.", Summer said. She didn't wait for their approval to continue and went on.

"Everyone go to their own spot by the edge of the shield. Winter. If you can, open the shield a bit on each of our spots. The rages will come in and we'll fight them that way. If you get tired ask Winter to close it. Deal?", Summer explained quickly.

Everyone nodded and went to their spots ready to fight. Winter closed her eyes and focused on each of those positions. She felt the shield opening, looked up and saw that it had worked. The others were fighting the rages while Winter tried her best to keep the shield strong.

"Close it over here!", one Angel said.

"Here too!",another said.

Just as Winter closed the last one. She heard screaming and suddenly all the rages had disappeared. There was smoke around but it looked charged. What the heck?

The smoke faded and what she saw made her feel like fainting.

It was Helix. He was alive! He was alive! His eyes were a gleaming red and his wings were bigger. He looked pretty cool. Winter removed the shield and run to Helix.

His eyes stopped gleaming as he received her hug.

"I thought you were gone. I thought I lost you.", Winter said as she felt tears well up in her eyes. Ugh really? Is crying my new hobby?

"Hey. Don't cry. Everything's going to be fine.", Helix said as he wiped a tear off of Winter's face.

Soon both Summer and Axel had joined the hug and Axel was crying.

"Axel? Are you crying?",Summer asked while holding a laugh back.

"N-no.", Axel replied as he made an attempt to wipe his tears.

The four laughed loudly at Axel and were about to make conversation when Zayne interrupted them.

"As much as I hate to interrupt this moment, I think we better get going. The word was sent that the cure works and theyre going to use a very large cleansing portal to finish the job. We need to get out of here.", Zayne explained.

"Okay! What're you doing standing there then?! Let's get out of here!", Summer announced.

Zayne laughed and led the way.

Bathsheba strode into the room with an air of pride. Basically her usual walk.

"I am happy to inform you all with great news! The cleansing was successful and all the rages are now back to normal!", Bathsheba said with a smile.

"Winter, Summer, Helix and Axel. Come with us.", Elijah commanded.

While being led somewhere by the four, Winter couldn't help but feel nervous. They hadn't mentioned what was happening and Azaniah and Ezekiel kept giving each other worried looks. Something was definitely wrong here. Were they going to die? Had they done something wrong?

They reached a room that had a circle in the center of the floor and four diamonds around it.

"Sit in the circle please.", Bathsheb a said as she stood on one of the diamonds.

The four obeyed and sat down. Now this was even scarier.

"I am so sorry to announce this but we will be altering your memories of the past events.", Ezekiel said.

"WHAT?!", Winter, Axel, Summer and Helix all said at once.

"Your memories. They. Ugh Bathseba just say it yourself!", Azaniah said looking infuriated.

"Fine. But only because you don't have the stomach to do it yourself. We fear your memories may be taken by someone and used against us. So we will alter them. Helix and Winter, you will no longer be together and would have just met. The rest I will not explain.", Bathsheba said coldly.

"But", Summer started.

"Silence. Azaniah and  Ezekiel, don't try anything funny. Let's begin.",Bathsheba announced.

Light filled the room and faded away.

At Millicent's institution of excellence

Winter got her papers and walked back to her office. On her way she bumped into someone and dropped them all.

"I'm so sorry. I didnt mean to bump into you. Let me help you.", the person said.

After picking all the papers up, Winter looked up and saw a male with brown hair and hazel eyes. For a moment they were just staring at each other.

"Uh. Where are my manners. I'm Helix. Helix O'Connell", Helix introduced as he held his hand out for her to shake.

"Winter. Winter Lebrilium", Winter introduced while shaking his hand. Wow it's so soft.

The two just kept their hands held while looking into each other's eyes for the next two minutes.

Winter felt an arm snake itself around her waist.

"I'm Rodney. Winter's boyfriend. And you are?", Rodney asked Helix.

Helix let go off Winter's hand sadly and took Rodney's.

"I work in the presentation department.", Helix said.

"Wow! Me too!",Winter said happily.

"I work in filling. Would you look at that! I've got to go. Nice meeting you Helix. Bye babe.", Rodney said before pecking Winter's cheek and walking hurriedly away.

Winter walked into her office before Helix could say anything, sat on her desk and began working.
