BOOK 2 (The other Merryweather is Book 1)
After Rose and her younger sister Maria broke the curse, they've been enjoying their life here at Moonacre. However, to break them from their perfect paradise, Rose's recent headaches have been getting worse...
As the evening drew near, Maria started a fire as Rose rested in the hollow tree. Rose had explained what had happened, how she teamed up with Robin; the spell; Cornelia; Primeveire's betrayal; her new powers; Robin's last words.
When Maria found out she jumped off the floor and squealed, enraptured in a fit of happiness, "I knew you loved each other!" She beamed. "What how?!" Rose screamed, confused.
"It was obvious, the way you two just kept staring at each other and the electricity whenever you were together!"
"It wasn't that obvio..."
"Yes it was!" Maria laughed and Rose soon joined in. "I am so happy for you" Maria sighed and lent back against the tree as the fire started going. The rain had stopped a couple of hours ago and since then the girls had plenty of time to catch up.
Rose smiled back at her younger sister, before sitting foreword to be closer to Maria. "Listen, I'm so sorry I left you. Once I heard what the adults were saying I knew I didn't have much time, plus I wanted you to be safe, not that that's much good as you're here with me now".
Maria frowned and Rose took notice, "and I couldn't be more happy about it", Rose smiled, before Maria jumped into a big hug. They broke apart, "it's about time you got it into your silly head that we do things together", Maria teased as she playfully whacked Rose in the shoulder.
The two girls went silent and snuggled up in each other's arms by the warm fire, sparks dancing around them.

Rose suddenly groaned and fell back against the tree. Maria looked concerned as she held Rose's hand tight. "Rose? What's wrong? What's happening?" She panicked, not knowing what to do.
"Don't worry, I'm fine, I'm just feeling a little tired", she groaned. Realisation hit Maria like a knife. "Rose, I think we're running out of time", she urged, knowing that as the forest grew weaker, so did Rose. "We've got to find the fae's dust now!" Maria exclaimed, whilst helping Rose to her feet.
"Good thing, I have a hunch on where it might be", Maria whispered as the two girls clambered off into the forest.
Meanwhile, back at the De Noir castle, Robin was facing his father...
*smack*
Robin felt the palm of his fathers hand right across his face. He fell to the floor, and put his hand to his lip which was now bleeding.
"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" His father bellowed, pacing up and down the hall. The crowd remaining quiet in his fury.
Robin looked up, still on the floor, with a scowl across his face. "MY OWN SON, A TRAITOR, AGAIN!" He continued.
Robin crept to his knees, his lip quivering as blood stained his hand. "But why is it so bad that I helped Rose?!"
"WELL ONE SHE IS A MERRYWEATHER! AND TWO, WE HAD A CHANCE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE FOREST AND YOU DECIDED TO GIVE THAT UP, LIKE YOU DID THIS FAMILY!" Coeur De Noir roared, and even Robin trembled under his wrath.
"I thought we had put all this De Noir, Merryweather stuff behind us! Surely, a life matters more than having control of the forest!" Robin retaliated. "NOT IF IT IS HER!" Coeur De Noir spat, "SHE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE THE MOMENT SHE ARRIVED AT MOONACRE! JUST LOOK AT YOU! SHE HAS CHANGED YOU! A FEW WEEKS AGO YOU WERE A RUTHLESS AND TERRIFYING DE NOIR, WHO RULED THE FOREST! NOW A WEAK AND PITIFUL MESS OF A BOY!"
Those words stung Robin deeply. All he wanted was his father to be proud of him, and now he was losing his trust forever.
There were a few moments of silence, as Coeur De Noir calmed down, his hand to his face as he took some deep breaths.
After a few deadly pauses, Coeur De Noir looked up and signalled for Luke to approach him. "As of today I now announce that my new heir shall be Lucas Mon Pessent of the De Noir Clan, a man who shows great potential and who I know will lead us to greatness", Coeur De Noir paused and looked down at Robin who looked as if words had left him. He stared into his father's bold, dark eyes, alight with fire. A moment passed between them, something of pain, but it was only a moment. "You are no longer my son", Coeur De Noir muttered, his own eyes glistening as if he regretted his words, but showed no remorse. "Take him away", he sentenced, whilst signalling to the door.
The guards took hold of Robin's firm arms, now limp with sorrow, and dragged him out of the great hall. The whole time he was being taken to the dungeons, he didn't say a word, nor did he fight back. His father and him had had fights before, even one similar to this when he was trying to find the moon pearls and diamond, yet this felt different. As if all the hope and love from his fathers heart had vanished. Back in the great hall, Coeur De Noir collapsed into his throne and signalled for the others to leave him. "My son. my son" he cried, his head in his hands, he morned as if his son was truly dead to him.
