hangyul gets drunk after his boyfriend broke up with him for someone else. he then, unknowingly, stumbles upon a handsome, popular alpha from his school the very same day.

"you should head in before anyone sees us" seungyoun chuckled, motioning at the beta to go inside. they finally arrived outside of hangyul and yohan's shared dorm after ten minutes of walking. the dorms were just outside of campus, so it didn't take them that long to get there at all.
"yeah" the beta nodded, bowing down slightly to thank the alpha, "thank for taking me back sunbae and w-well making me . . . . feel better"
the beta had spilled his feelings out to the alpha about what happened. after sobbing a little and sniffling on the way back, the alpha did nothing but comfort the beta with his kind words— even though he clearly wanted to beat up a particular alpha for hurting the younger.
"make sure you get some rest, okay?" seungyoun shot a warm smile at the beta who nodded, "and make sure to tell yohan about this when he gets back from his classes. you shouldn't be crying over that asshole"
hangyul smiled back at the alpha, feeling his heart skip a beat seeing the smile on his sundaes face, "y-you should get going sunbae! yuvin sunbae and jinhyuk sunbae are probably waiting for you" the beta grabbed the alpha's shoulder and turned him around so that his back was facing him. he gave him a small push and quickly headed inside before seungyoun could turn around and say anything.
"cute" seungyoun mumbled, putting his hands in his pockets and headed out of the dorms. hangyul was just full of surprises wasn't he? first he approaches him, claiming him that he was his and now, he practically throws himself onto him, crying in his arms.
it wasn't like seungyoun minded. he found it cute for such a mature looking boy. well cute when he was all over him and kissing him, but his heart hurt when he saw the boy crying— especially if he was crying over such an alpha.
"park minjun" seungyoun whispered to himself as he stepped out of the building. he didn't normally stir up a lot of trouble since he was already popular, but that alpha ticked him off more than ever. he dared to break up with such a lovable beta.
"ah there's seungyoun sunbae!" the voice made him clear his thoughts away. he looked up to meet yohan and yuvin's eyes.
"what are you doing here?" yuvin asked, raising an eyebrow, "you left me and jinhyuk waiting for you! you didn't even text us!"
seungyoun let out a nervous giggle and rubbed the back of his head, "i took hangyul back. i left my phone at home today so i couldn't call you guys. sorry about that"
"hangyul?" yohan mumbled, looking down at his feet, "was he okay? he said he'd confront minjun today and my classes ended late, so i couldn't walk back with him. i hope he's okay"
yuvin frowned, looking at the pouting alpha beside him. the older then looked at seungyoun, nudging at his shoulder to help comfort the pouting alpha, "didn't you say you took hangyul back? how was he?"
"let's go somewhere else and talk" seungyoun said, walking to the cafe that was a block down from the dormitory. he wasn't comfortable talking here, knowing that other students from their school might eavesdrop and post another ridiculous article.
once they settled down with a couple drinks and ordered some sweets from the cafe, seungyoun explained everything that happened. of course he had to reassure hangyul's alpha friend that he was somewhat already better. he didn't exactly tell the latter about how hangyul jumped into his arms and cried his heart out. he knew hangyul would tell him about that when he got back.
"hangyul" yohan whispered as he sipped onto his drink. he was worried for the beta. after hearing what seungyoun said, he felt a little reassured but he was still scared. what if minjun knew about his change in scent?
"yohan" yuvin patted the younger's head, making him snap out of his thoughts, "do you want to ask seungyoun the same thing you asked me earlier?"
that made seungyoun intrigued as he put down his drink, "is it about hangyul?"
yohan's cheeks flushed red as he felt yuvin's hand disappearing from the top of his head, "h-his scent. it smells sweeter than usual and i think he might be an omega"
"an omega?" seungyoun whispered under his breath as he looked at the other alpha. hangyul as an omega? was that even possible at his age? he's heard of late bloomers, but it rarely happens to people after they turned twenty.
"i smelled it too when we were in english class with them" yuvin said, fiddling with his fingers, "it'd be bad if the other alphas and betas found out about it. especially minjun. things would get out of hand"
yohan nodded, looking at seungyoun, "and he registered as a beta when applying for this university. i don't think he can switch to the omega campus until next year"
"does hangyul know about this?" seungyoun asked, now completely concerned for the younger. he wasn't going to let minjun get his hands on him again and make him cry like he did today. of course he wouldn't. hangyul told him earlier how minjun preferred omegas. he wasn't going to let that bastard get hangyul back just because he was an omega now.
yohan shook his head, looking down at the table, "i-i didn't want him to worry"
"i don't think we should worry him" seungyoun said, playing with the drawstrings of his hoodie, "but his heat—"
yuvin rolled his eyes, pointing at seungyoun, "you protect him. we'll stay close with him too. once his scent gets stronger, we should start covering for him"
yohan nodded in agreement, "seungyoun sunbae is one of the alphas he's comfortable with now after . . . . ." yohan's cheeks tinted red for the beta after remembering what happened when he was drunk, "a-after what happened at the chicken place"
seungyoun let out a chuckle, remembering what happened. if he didn't decide to go there that day with yuvin, hangyul might've found his way on top of another alpha that wasn't him. it was definitely an encounter he didn't plan on forgetting.
"people would start to get suspicious though" yuvin noted, glancing at the alpha who was sitting across from him, "and seungyoun is popular"
"and an omega's scent is hard to cover up, especially if you're surrounded by alphas and betas" yohan said, looking down with a small sigh. he wanted to protect hangyul too. he'd hate to see his best friend hurt again, "this is harder than i thought"
yuvin frowned, seeing the boy beside him pouting, "we'll figure something out. seungyoun is smart. we'll all try our best okay? don't pout" the older alpha petted the back of the younger's head, making him look up shyly.
with his heart racing and his cheeks turning red, he nodded, loving the warmth of the older's hand on his skin. seungyoun glanced over from the other side and smirked. it was weird to see yuvin like this, especially to another alpha.
"lovebirds. i didn't know you two we're dating"
"w-we aren't dating seungyoun!"
"s-seungyoun sunbae!"
the alpha simply giggled, teasing the two boys across from him. if only he and hangyul could be like that too without anyone buzzing into their business.
