~ Dinner ~

Izuku POV
Dinner was, to say the very least, an awkward affair. With the two families being rather estranged aside from their sons "acquaintanceship" it was already doomed to be a disaster. But when Mitsuki started braggadociously flaunting every detail about her life from her career to her manicure and the ever-sweet Inko tried desperately to be hospitable despite Mrs. Bakugo's obvious performance, it became clear to the three boys present that this would go down as the worst dinner in all of history. Though it didn't help that the Midoriya's actually seemed to be doing quite well for themselves, which pissed Mrs. Bakugo off even more.
Inko had explained to them when they questioned about the new flatscreen tv that her lovely son had picked up a rather well-paying job, and whenever they had cash left over they put 70% into their savings and spent the rest on whatever they wanted. When the blonde alpha woman was told by her ex-best friend that she no longer had to work due to her son's financial stability, Mitsuki seemed to make it her mission to nitpick about everything and put the Midoriya's as far down as they would go.
But to their credit, the Midoriya's held strong, and no matter what Mitsuki said they never lost their pride to her.
"And the dress I'm wearing right now I bought just last Saturday, y'know. It cost me about 54,000 yen but it's so beautiful don't you agree? And it's so comfortable. Maybe you should come shopping with me one day, Inko. Heaven knows that god awful dress you're wearing now could do with some replacements, hmm." She laughed heartily, but Inko smiled sweetly despite the jab.
"Yes, well, that sounds lovely, Mitsuki. But the dress my mother is wearing is actually Prada, from this year's summer collection. It cost around 3,000 American dollars, which is over three hundred and twenty three thousand yen." As rude as it made him sound, or as harsh a glare as he received from his mother for his attitude, he was not going to let Mitsuki Bakugo put her down like that. Even if the bitch was his soulmate's mother.
"Izuku, enough!"
"No, that's alright Inko." Mitsuki smiled somewhat warmly, but if anyone besides Izuku noticed how fake it was, no one reacted. 'Is this really who Kacchan has to deal with every day? No wonder he is the way he is...' "He's just correcting my observations," Mitsuki said somewhat tightly.
The room was silent for almost five minutes after that, the only sound heard was the scraping of cutlery on their plates. Izuku reluctantly ate the meal, trying not to show his distaste for eating as he chanted 'you can purge it after, you can purge it after, just get through the dinner,' in his head.
"So, anyway!" Mitsuki started again, earning an eye roll from everyone but Inko. "Did I tell you about Katsuki? He's planning on going to UA, and I'm completely positive he'll get in. I mean they'd be stupid not to accept someone with such a powerful quirk! And his soulmate is actually the daughter of one of the top five heroes!" Mitsuki bragged on behalf of her son.
'Daughter? Shoto isn't -'
"I'm so proud of him. Speaking of my son," Mitsuki turned to look at the two teens at the table. "Why don't you two go upstairs for a while, let the adults talk?" Without further adieu, the boys stood from their places at the table and left for Izuku's room.
