[Abuse warning]
Shoto POV:
(I didn't see this coming either)

The following months were straight out of hell for Shoto. His father (his loving, sweet, kind, perfect father), had decided that Shoto's upcoming transition from his private middle school into the prestigious UA highschool, famous for producing some of the nation's top heroes, was cause for celebration.

However, where most families would consider ice cream and a trip to the theme park a more than adequate celebration, Enji Todoroki had something different in mind.

Which was how Shoto ended up training from four in the morning to, well, four in the morning. The man could definitely use a reiteration of what "celebration" actually means.

It seems having his father's perfect idea of a quirk and getting into UA just wasn't enough for the old stickler. He demanded his son be the very best student in UA's hero course. He would make every other student tremble in his shadow. He'd out perform All Might five minutes after stepping through the school gate. That's what his father wanted, and his father often went too far to get what he wanted.

The intense training meant he was never getting enough rest, always ending in him collapsing into one of his sibling's arms. That was the only time his father ever really let him sleep. He no longer ate dinner with his family, as his father kept him on an all too strict diet. What little time he had to himself he spent cleaning up his pattern of injuries, wincing when every quick movement sent a wave of pain shooting up his body, reminding him of how broken he was. The first time Fuyumi had seen the extent of Shoto's injuries she had cried out in pain for him, begging their father to at least let Shoto see a doctor. But of course, his father refused, thinking the doctors might "get the wrong idea". But possibly the worst of all, his new training schedule meant he never had time to see Katsuki.

The spitfire blond, to absolutely no one's surprise, let his displeasure be known. He'd left choice words written boldly on Shoto's arm about his father, undeniably hoping the man himself would see what he thought of him. One day he had showed up at the Todoroki manor and demanded to see him until his father threatened to call the police on him for trespassing (he still didn't leave after that, but by some miracle Shoto convinced him to leave before he got himself into too much trouble). Katsuki's last attempt was to call the police to report the abuse, but considering Endeavour's status as the number two hero, they wrote the claim off as a prank.

The only good to come out of the training at all was the distraction it provided Shoto with. Their soulmate (who Katsuki and Shoto had both taken to calling Inazuma, in reference to the lightning bolt mark adorning their wrists in representation of him) had also taken up a training regimen much like Shoto's, and the pain radiating from him seemed almost overwhelming at times, even though he could feel so little of it.

He often worried over Katsuki. The blond alpha must be feeling the effects of both their pain, and suffering with the inability to hold either of them in his arms and know they were safe. But there was little Shoto could do. For now, he was restricted to responding to the messages inked on his skin in whatever time his father would spare him.

Katsuki told him stories sometimes too. To distract him when training was harsher than normal.

Mostly, he told Shoto about Izuku Midoriya, the little omega he had found bruises on. Katsuki told him about the successes he had and the progress he had made in earning the omega's forgiveness. And Shoto couldn't be more proud of his mate.
