Chapter 5
~ He's Not Mine ~
• • •Izuku POV:
Everyone hates Monday's, but for Izuku Midoriya they were particularly painful. After a weekend of unending torture and pain he returned to his middle school bullies, who found joy in beating the shit out of him. Not that the teachers ever noticed, and if they did they turned a blind eye.
The worst of them all was Kacchan, his childhood friend had turned his back on Izuku without a second thought. The memories of how they used to be hurt Izuku deeply, but he had accepted that the Kacchan he knew was long gone. His beautiful red eyes, once so inviting and warm, were now an icy crimson, holding only hate and anger. Over the last few months however, Izuku was delighted to see some of the warmth slowly return to Katsuki's eyes. Assumably due to the fact he had met his soulmate. Izuku had known very little about Katsuki's soulmate until his birthday, but he was able to gather enough information from the rowdy classroom conversations to know that he had found his other half and that he was someone important.
Since meeting his soulmate, Izuku could see that Katsuki was happier. He wasn't so aggressive and easily angered, he was more in control of himself, and more... lively. But today it was different.
He didn't punch Izuku as he walked into school. He didn't try to blow up the kid that almost walked into him. He didn't speak unless spoken to. He was quiet and melancholy, something more rare then a total lunar eclipse.
Izuku knew in his gut that it was his fault. He knew Kacchan didn't actually care about him, rather he was in pain from Izuku's own injuries. Not nearly as much as Izuku, but enough to keep him quiet.
Throughout the day, Katsuki constantly looked at his wrist, as if waiting for his soulmate to send him something. Shoto. He's waiting for Shoto. Izuku reminded himself, despite the pain in his chest that was begging him to believe Katsuki was waiting for him. Of course he's not waiting for me, it's Kacchan.

The day passed painfully slow. Izuku's body ached head to toe, and he knew Katsuki was feeling it too. The guilt ate away at him the more the day progressed, Katsuki's mood not shifting even once.
Katsuki sat quietly in his seat, keeping his head down and his eyes glued to the desk. His shoulders slumped forward and he remained quiet, only speaking when the teacher asked him a question, his voice scarily soft.
Izuku couldn't bare watching him act this way, so saddened and despairing. He had found himself wanting to go up and hug the explosive blond, but knowing it would only end with a punch to his stomach he restrained himself.
Katsuki's friends had backed off from torturing Izuku in favour of trying to console their uncharacteristically depressed friend, and for that Izuku was grateful. But something in Izuku hated it. He wanted to be the one taking care of Katsuki, he was Izuku's soulmate after all! Izuku knew it was only his omega pushing him to be closer to Katsuki, but he felt the jealousy boil in his stomach.
It was almost the end of the day, Izuku would soon be allowed to return home and escape to the safety of his bed, yet the prospect almost saddened him. His omega didn't want to be away from his alpha when he was upset, and Izuku didn't want to leave the presence of his soulmate. But when the time came for the day to end and the annoyingly loud bell sounded, Izuku was quick to rush out of the school.
