Katsuki POV:

Katsuki was all but shaking when he finally made it to Shoto's house. Tonight was very high on his list of 'Most Terrible Nights of my Entire Life'. Second only to the night he got his second soulmate.

He ran through the dark and onto Shoto's front lawn, staying in the shadows as much as possible and using the password Shoto gave him to get through the gate. He knew Endeavour wouldn't take too kindly to catching his son's soulmate outside his house at midnight, so it was best he sneak in quietly and leave before the sun came up.

He climbed the tree outside Shoto's window carefully, and rapped three times on the window pane when he reached the branch that hung just a foot away from the wall. Shoto looked surprised to see him, but opened the window anyway to let him in.

As soon as Katsuki landed with a gentle thud inside the other boy's room he tackled him in a hug. And despite the unfamiliarity with affection that both boys suffered, Shoto hugged him back just as tightly. It wasn't until small tears landed on his pajama shirt that Shoto pulled away to look Katsuki in the eye.

Katsuki was never the type to cry over something. The night katsuki and Shoto cried together over their soulmate was the first time he had cried over anything in years. Yet here he was, standing in Shoto's room with a mind buzzing with thoughts and a broken heart. Shoto silently brought him to the bed, saying nothing as he waited for Katsuki to begin.

"I told you that my family and I were going to someone's house for dinner tonight, right?" Shoto nodded his head in acknowledgement, so Katsuki continued. "It had to be the worst night of my life, Sho.

"My mother... well you know my mother, so it's not hard to guess what happened there. She spent the whole fucking night trying to put the other family down, insulting every flaw she found like it was a life and death mistake. Fucking bitch. She said I was dating the daughter of one of the top pro heroes. But I guess it's better than not acknowledging your existence at all like she usually does.

"Then she told me and Deku to go upstairs so the adults could talk." Bakugo mocked his mother's voice. "Which was fine, it was better upstairs with him than downstairs with her." Bakugo suddenly froze, his words getting stuck in his throat as he tried to recount the events of the night.

Shoto saw his struggle and put a comforting hand on Katsuki's shoulder, urging him to keep going. Katsuki gave him an appreciative yet pained smile and continued. "That's when he..." Katsuki's voice trailed off, but it was clear Shoto understood as he winced at the reminder.

"But Deku! As soon as he walked in I remembered Deku's birthday had to have happened recently. He's an omega, and he has every reason to hate me. I mean, before I didn't even think it could have been him, but our soulmate had just done that and I was desperate. So I asked him" At this point Katsuki was pacing Shoto's room, his hands clutching his hair in agitation. "And it was this month! That couldn't be a coincidence!"

He looked back at Shoto, who was watching him intensely. "I was so scared Sho." Katsuki's voice broke when he admitted what he was feeling in the moment, not used to being so supported with his emotions. If he had admitted to being scared in front of anyone else they would have laughed at him, or, in his mother's case, hit him.
