John's P.O.V.
Her tears. Her beauty. When they add up. A sparkle of magic. But the magic fades away. Soon. Very soon. For her tears are a part of her pain. And I feel it. I feel it now.
"Shh." I said. I cupped her face in my hands. "You will die. But not soon. You will live your life happily. And you'll die peacefully. An old beautiful hot lady."
She laughed. Her tears were still there. Yet, she laughed. Her face was so close to mine. Even though I had kissed her several times in the last few days, I had never been able to observe it closely. I never got a chance to. Until now, I had noticed the charm in her eyes. The blush on her face. And the smile on her lips. But today, I realised that what looked charm from a distance, was actually the pain she carried in her eyes. What looked a blush, was the bags under her eyes from less sleep and more crying. And what looked a smile, was the shivering of her lips, out of fear and pain. Her face was a perfect representation of depression. Yet, it looked flawless. For I loved her.
"I love you." I whispered to her, wiping her tears.
"I love you too." She said. She laid her head on my chest, and within minutes, she fell asleep like that. I picked her up and got her to bed.
I went in to cook some dinner for us and thought of re-making some chocolate cake.
Just two words, 'chocolate' 'cake'. And so many things came back to me.
"That looks delicious!"
"John. Give it!"
"No. It's for the cake."
"Umm... I may have some over sized shirts."
"John get up."
"John. Wake up."
"Mm. What?"
"The cake. What about it?"
"The cake? You promised me last night, didn't you?"
"I guess you should rest."
"Please?"
"Ash I promise, the next time we meet, I will bake one for you."
Thinking about her, I started making some pasta and cake. And as I was thinking, I realised that now she had only me. Katie was gone. I really wanted her to have more people in her life. While thinking of what should be done, I realised the meal was ready.
