It was a bit harder to beat the headmaster but you both managed.

After a while the masked headmaster poofed back, Grim was taking deep breaths whilst you just wanted to take your beloved sleep.

“Hah… heh… how 'bout that?” The raccoon cat asked breathlessly.

“I can't believe it… there is a person who can command a monster. Although, my teacher senses were telling me since the uproar during the entrance ceremony that you have talent as an animal or wild beast trainer.”

“Woah, seriously?” You asked, slightly amazed.

“However…” He trailed on, mumbling to himself.

You sweatdropped then glanced at Grim who was frowning whilst staring at the headmaster.

‘He really wants to get into this school, huh?’ You wouldn't admit it but you admire the cat's determination. ‘What to do, what to do…’ You thought for a while, thinking of an idea that could help the sulking cat. ‘Ah! Bingo!’

You turned to the, still mumbling, headmaster.

“Uh, Headmaster Crowley, could you, perhaps, allow to let Grim stay here with me?”

That snapped him out of his trance, he looked at you in shock and confusion, with Grim following his actions.

“What? Let a monster live here?” He asked, taken aback by your request.

‘This will be the first and the last time, I'm going to do this…’ You sighed.

“Please!” You bowed in a perfect 90 percent angle, surprising the two more.

Crowley stared at you and sighed. “Well, it can't be help. Alright.”

You stared at the headmaster in glee whilst Grim in shock, his blue eyes filling up with hope. “Fuwah! R-Really?!”

“However.” There it was. “I can't simply allow someone, let alone a monster, into the school who wasn't selected by the Dark Mirror.” Grim's ears flattened, hearing those words. “Also, I can't let you be a freeloader here until you return to your own world.” You nodded solemnly.

“Well, talk about short-lived happiness…” Grim muttered, you can only nod, agreeing with his words.

“Listen until the end.” Crowley lightly snapped. “Concerning the fact that your soul was called here, the school has to take responsibility, being the owners of the Dark Mirror, of course you can stay here. But–” You interrupted him, catching on what he meant.

“We provide our own and necessities.” You finished for him, making him smile.

“Correct and since you–”

“Since we both don't have anything, what's your plan?” You asked, finishing yet again his sentence.

His smile got a bit wider, which doesn't seem like a good sign to you.

‘Oh boy, what now?’

“Correct again, Ms. Y/n, seems you're as smart as you look.” He said.

‘Is that a compliment or…?’

“Now, no need to worry, have you do maintenance and odd jobs around campus.”

‘Odd jobs? What kind of odd–?’ You tilted your head at the thought, whilst your mind ran wild with some inappropriate images. ‘No, he doesn't mean it like that, right?!’ You began to panic inside, now your mind was running with much more inappropriate and dirtier ideas.

‘I am a child of God. I am a child of God. I am a child of God–’

“From what I can see, you're pretty decent at cleaning.” He looked around the dorm which has gone a bit cleaner than earlier. “Would you two like to become the ‘handyman’ of the school?”

‘Eh?’ The ideas in your head disappeared in a snap of a finger. ‘That's it? Only cleaning?’ You sighed in relief, thanking that you don't have to punch some boys from protecting your no-no square. ‘I've gotten worried for nothing!’

Crowley continued to ramble, not noticing your relieved figure. “This way you will receive special permission to remain on school grounds. And you'll also be able to research about going home or study whatever you desire in the school library.” He said. “For I am gracious.” He smiled. “However! Only after your work is done.”

‘Gracious my ass.’

Grim started to complain, again. “Eeh!? I'm not okay with that! I wanna wear that fancy uniform and be a student!”

Crowley looked down to the raccoon cat. “It's fine if you're unsatisfied. I could just simply toss you out again.”

You bonked Grim's head. “Be thankful that you're even let into school, ungrateful cat.”

He glared at you whilst rubbing the part of his head where you smacked him. “Fine! I get it! I just have to do it. We'll take it!”

You nodded at the headmaster. “As the raccoon cat said, we'll take the job, Headmaster Crowley.”

Crowley clapped his hands, looking ecstatic. “Wonderful! Then, you two, starting tomorrow, endeavor to be the best handyman at Night Raven College!”

After that, he bid you both goodnight and head out of the dorm.

You sighed as the door closes. Grim looked at you still grumbling.

“Hm? What was that?” You asked, rubbing your eyes from the sleepiness.

“I said, I'm not a freaking cat!”

You just turned on your heels and walked straight to the bedroom. “Uh-huh, yeah, sure bud, whatever you say. Now, let's sleep.”

Grim followed, albeit still grumpy, and laid down, under your feet.

“Goodnight, Grim.” You yawned and slowly let the lullaby of darkness take you on a comforting journey of dreams.

“Yeah, yeah.”

And the dorm of the Ramshackle became quiet once again, except from the occasional snoring coming from the both of you of course.
