Kitchen

The kitchen was huge. Trey stood before the counter with an apron.

“Welcome back. You picked quite a bit.” He greeted, looking at the basket carried by the orange haired first year.

“With this, we can make a huge tart!” Grim grinned widely, his head filled with the images of the delicious tart.

Trey sighed. “Peeling all this is going to be a challenge but… let's get to it.” He stretched his arms forward, sighing in relief as his bones released satisfying cracks.

Deuce's eyes widened. “All of this... there's no end in sight…”

“Making sweets is all about preparation.” Trey responded, grabbing a chestnut.

“Yeah, yeah, we get it! I'm so ready to get this over with!” Ace rolled his head, readying himself for the tiring process that awaits them.

Peeling the last chestnut, Ace slumped down on the table, arms numbing. “We're finally done with the peeling!”

Deuce looked down at his own arms, he tried to move it but jolted instead as a sting of pain hit him. “My arms hurt…”

But alas their complaints were ignored by the three of you. Grim was stretched his paws, you were sighed in relief, opening and closing your hands, while Trey was smiling, no surprise there.

Your green haired upperclassman laughed lightly. “Good job. Your hard work will make it tastier.”

Grim sniffed and shuddered as the sweet aroma of chestnuts filled his nose. “I'm full from just the smell.”

“Next, we mix butter and sugar into the chestnut paste, then add oyster sauce as the secret ingredient.” Trey announced, getting the said ingredients.

“Wait, oyster sauce?!” Ace and Deuce spluttered, disbelief pasted on their faces.

“What, come again?” You cocked your head to the side, eyebrows furrowed. You only know how to bake simple brownies and cookies but still the thought of putting oyster sauce guffawed you.

Trey nodded. “Yep, the savoriness of oysters adds depth and richness to the cream.” He added, going to one of the cupboards to retrieve a bottle of oyster sauce, he showed it to the four of you. “Here's a young oyster sauce with the Walrus' Seal of Excellence. Famous patisserie all use this in their tarts.” He explained.

“Seriously? That's a pretty salty sauce.” Deuce remarked.

“Even chocolate gets put in curry all the time, so It might be good…?” Ace was going deep in thought.

“Tell me the name of the chocolate factory that make that kinds of chocolate and I will personally go there and teach them how to make chocolates the proper way after I slap them.” You growled making the two male first-years lean away from you.

Your train of thought was interrupted by Trey's laugh. “Pfft. It's a joke. Oyster sauce does not belong in sweets.” He put the oyster sauce away.

“You said it still with a straight face!” Ace pointedly gasped.

Trey just laughed. “If you took a second to think about it, you'd figure it out. Don't just accept things without a healthy amount of skepticism. Better study up.” He then continued to prepare the tart.
