1. Sing me to sleep

"Ella! Ella! Look at this!" My best friend, Jess, was running over to me waving a magazine in the air. She was almost hysterical and could hardly contain the excited squeal in her voice.

"Hi to you too," I said with a smile as Jess came closer. I was standing the queue at the food court, waiting to order sushi for lunch. Jess almost knocked an old lady over in her rush to get to me. So typical, she was so caught up in the moment that she didn't even notice. I apologised to the lady on her behalf and stepped out of the line.

"There!" She squealed again, thrusting it open for me to see. "Read it! Read it!"

"Hold it still, I can't read it when you're moving it around," I laughed and took the magazine from her hands.

"Oh my God! Just hurry up before I die!" She squealed again, always so dramatic.

"I'm reading it!" I said, but I was still looking at the photo of the gorgeous boy before me, Harry Styles. Then the title of the story caught my eye. "One Direction are coming to Australia?"

Jess's voice was so high pitched, I could hardly make out what she said. "Wrong! They are in Australia!"

"What?" I asked, even though I heard what she had said.

"The Gold Coast! They're on the Coast!"

"Get out!" I said, feeling excited. "Since when?"

"Oh my God, Ella! Just read it already!" Jess cried out, as impatient as ever. She was bouncing up and down on the spot, unable to contain her excitement.

"I am," I said as my eyes skimmed the lines looking for more information. The stadium at Brisbane had technical faults, so the Brisbane show had been moved to the Gold Coast at the last minute. Not that it really mattered, their show had sold out moments after tickets had gone live.

"I'm going to die!" Jess squealed again, so loud a man walking past gave her an odd look, but again, she didn't seem to notice. "I thought we wouldn't get to meet them until we were finished school!"

"Where do we meet them?" I asked, but then my eyes fell on the words 'Gold Coast Convention Centre'.

"Where isn't important! When is!" Jess exclaimed and my eyes met hers, brimming with excitement.

"Why do I get the feeling you have a cunning and devious plan?"

"Because I do!" Jess let out a high-pitched shriek and pulled out two tickets.

I grabbed the tickets and scanned them. A meet and greet for One Direction fans. "Tonight?"

"Yes! Tonight!"

"But how?" I stammered.

"I was getting coffee before school- okay, maybe during school- and I heard on the radio that there were some last minute tickets up for grabs if you could find the Sea-FM fugitive. Anyway, I realised they were at Pacific Fair, because let's be honest, it's my second home, and I went straight there and literally started grabbing like every single guy I could see and asked him if he was the sea-FM fugitive, until I found the right one!"

I could just imagine her grabbing poor, unsuspecting boys and shaking the dear life out of them, demanding they give her tickets. Jess was certainly passionate about certain things in life; mainly sun-baking, fashion and One Direction.

"Jess," I breathed. "You are actually so amazing! I could kiss you!"

"I know," she smiled, "but save it for the boys. We have to go shopping! Like, right now. I can't meet my future husband in these crappy clothes."
