chapter -24

Sophia's pov

Next morning was nothing like a good morning but more like an ache morning. My head, arms, legs everything is hurting. I don't think I can even  stand on my own. Instead of getting up I think I should rest more. With that thought I fell into the deep slumber.

My eyes opened to the noise which was similar to my phone's ringtone. I slowly get up and changed my laying position to siting position. I took support of the wall besides bed to sit and reached up to my phone to see who is calling me. My doubts were answered when Xavier's voice boomed out from the other side.
‘Sophia where are you? ’
‘why, i am at home. ’ I said with the pretending Enthusiastic voice of mine.
‘soph, don't lie to me, I know you are not at home. ’
‘why would I lie to you. I swear I am at home. If you don't believe me come and check’ I said
‘really but why can't I find you? I mean I checked gab 's room and many other rooms beside them. You are not there and yeah not to forget in the kitchen as well. Now tell me the truth, where are you soph’
Words got struck in my throat. If Xavier found about the arrangement of our living then I think my life will be worse than hell. Mr Knight is not going to spare me if any one knows about it. I returned back to the call.
‘Xavier can you wait for a minute I will be in the living room  as fast as I can be. ’ with that I cut the call and hoped into the bathroom not caring about the pain. I was in the middle of cleaning myself when my phone ranged and then got silent. I put up my clothes covering all the injuries I many as I can and got out of my bathroom. As I was going to pick up the medicines....
‘what are you eating? ’
Medicines fell back to bed from my hand.
‘what are you doing here Xavier? ’
I asked him with uncertainty evident in my voice.
‘don't you think I should I ask you the same question. What are you doing in this attic? ’he asked with a frown and his eyes ran all over my room.
‘um... Nothing I was just here to get some things. ’I said with a faint voice.
He eyed me for couple of seconds and said ‘why is the bed here and all your clothes here then? Do you come here everyday to get your clothes and as far as I know this mansion has enough room in which enough spacious space is provided for closet. So can you explain? ’
‘it's nothing these just are my old clothes and I was here to see..... ’
He cut me in the middle of my sentence.
‘sophia I only want the truth and nothing else. ’ my words were struck in my throat once again. And I tried to divert his mind.
‘leave it Xavier and yeah what are you doing here and how did you find me? ’
He eyed me again and I was scurrying under his gaze.‘ I ringed you again  when I guess you were in bathroom and I was on the second floor and I heard the faint ringtone of your phone coming from the farthest corner and from that I reached here in front of attic and as far as I know this attic wasn't locked I opened it and  landed up here. I told you mine story now tell me yours. ’
‘Xavier there is nothing that I am hiding from you and yeah let's have breakfast together. I will make you something delicious. ’
‘soph please dont lie to me and have you seen the time?  It's 4pm, it's evening and not breakfast time. ’
Now I am stuck in this situation how I can get him over this whole attic thing.
‘Sophia if you are looking for another excuse then keep it to yourself I want nothing but truth. What is happening here. Why are you in attic and why are there bandages on your left arm? ’
He took hold of my medicines and studied them. ‘why are you taking these drugs? ’ I think this is the end of my lies and here goes nothing.
I told every single thing to him from my parent's abuse to Mr. Knight's betrayal. I cried every single time telling him about the incidents which were enough to make anyone suffer from hell. I cried and cried on his shoulder but I was feeling content. I shared my painful experiences with someone and it was like a burden was lifted up from my chest. Xavier hugged me tightly and kissed me on my temple. ‘I will not let them hurt you anymore and as for Gabriel did he do anything to hurt you? ’
I hesitated to tell him about my first encounter after wedding but spit out everything in the end. I looked at Xavier who was boiling with rage.
‘Sophia you are my sister that I never had and don't worry I will make sure you will live here safely and now pack your bags. We are going out of here. ’
