Zoey held onto Clay tightly as tears dropped down her face

They pulled away from the hug and Clay wiped the tears from her face and she looked into his red puffy eyes

"Remember to call or text me" Clay said and she nodded "same for you" she said and smiled weakly at the boy

Clay kissed her forehead as their finger intertwined together

Lainie touched her heart looking at the two, she knew how hard it was for the two to finally split after years of being inseparable

"I love you" Zoey said "I love you more" Clay said and she smiled weakly "not possible" Zoey said "that's totally possible" he said and smile back at the girl

As their hands pulled away you could tell that they were both broken, and they couldn't take it.

"It's okay..." Alex said while hugging the girl as Clay got in the back on Lainies car, headed to the airport, his eyes still connected with Zoeys through the window

Alex and Zoey got in the back of Meridas car as they drove, not to the airport, but to Berkeley. They decided that it was better from them to drive which was a 6 hour ride, but it wasn't bad.

Zoeys head rested on Alex's shoulder as she tried to stop her tears from falling down.

Alex felt super bad for the girl, he knew that Clay and Zoey had been friends for forever and he knew how hurt she was

She soon got up front his shoulder wiping her tears

"Sorry" she said lowly to the boy "it's fine, Zoe. You've been here for me so it's time for me to be here for you" he said and Zoey smiled weakly as she leaned her head onto the window, pressing her warm cheek against the cold glass

Her mind slipped, thinking of what happened a week before leaving

Flashback

Zoeys head rested on Clay stomach as he laid back on his bed, they both scrolled through their phones "what the hell-look" Zoey whined while showing him the video of the ice cream cake on YouTube

"Seriously, a cake?" Clay asked "not just any cake, a vanilla bean ice cream cake" she said and Clay laughed "you seriously need to stop watching food videos" he said and she sat up and looked at him

"No, seriously, just watch this one" Zoey said as she laid back, now her head resting on his chest as she lifted the phone in order for the both of them to see the video

It was a short tutorial on making chocolate mug cake

Clay laughed

"That's so stupid, it probably doesn't even work" he said "wanna test that theory?" She asked "fine" Clay said "do you even have the ingredients for this?" Zoey asked "I don't know.." Clay said "well...let's go to the grocery store" she said while getting up and patting his stomach and he groaned "Zoe, it's nearly 11pm" he said "that's why we need to go before it closes" she said "isn't it too late?" He asked "it closed at 11:30" she said

Clay lazily held out his hand and Zoey sighed trying to hold in her smile

She lazily placed her hand in his, mocking what he had just did

Clay laughed as he pulled her down and hugged her tightly and she laughed

She grabbed his face and squeezed his cheeks making his lips squish together making her laugh

"Come on lazy, we can't let the store close, we need ingredients for a mug cake-and we can buy some ice cream!" she said "sometimes I really think that you're five in a eighteen year old body" he said and they laughed together

End of flashback

Zoey smiled weakly as her eyes closed, she was dozing off into a deep sleep, she needed to sleep.

She was up all night thinking about leaving Clay, Jessica, Zach, Tyler, Tony, Charlie, even Ani, no may they if they never got close, Zoey was going to miss all her friends

And her grandpa. That was also the hardest thing for her. Before she left to see Clay for the last time, she cried so hard when she had to say goodbye. She knew calls, texts, and FaceTimes were alright but it wasn't the same.

She knew that she wasn't going to be able to see them in person until a holiday, and the next  holiday that allowed you to go back home was thanksgiving, and Christmas. But that wasn't in months.

All she could do was talk to them over the phone.
